Head Of | Regional Manager | Large Stores | Convenance | Transformation | Co-Chair Qualified ERG Leader & Current ASDA Co-Chair for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
This evening marks the end of “Neurodiversity Celebration Week”, and I am proud to describe that we at Asda have made an incredible start this year with explaining what neurodiversity is, as well as building a growing and exciting network for our 100k plus colleagues. Highlighting how it might impact those in the workplace, and how you/we can ensure the working environment is a positive and inclusive place for the neurodiverse has been our initial priority. I am lucky enough to be a Co-chair of the D&I agenda at Asda with my particular focus on accessibility in our work place, a subject close to my heart given my own lived experiences with this challenging subject. Myself and fellow Co-Chair Emma B. stand alongside all our colleagues in promoting and shaping the disability inclusion strategy with the support and guidance of our executive sponsors David Hills, Sue Tunmore, Michael Gleeson and Hayley Tatum Four facts to get our heads around as we enter a new age of total inclusivity….. 1) At least 1 in 5 of the working-age population are classed disabled and 80% of those disabilities are invisible. 2) Teams with neurodivergent professionals in key roles can be 30% more productive than those without them.. 3) Neurodiverse people while making up less than 20% of the working age population represent 55% of business owners, 45% of executives, and 32% of senior management. 4) Reasearch has found that 76% of neurodivergent workers are more likely to stay with an employer that priorities inclusion and promotes career opportunity’s for this population. So this is important stuff and relevant to us all. #neurodiversitycelebrationweek #neurodiversity

Having the opportunity to enjoy life and connect with others is a fundamental aspect of being human. In Spain, 20.5% of households have a person with a disability. A recent study revealed that 2 out of 3 of them experience a lack of empathy when going out. Moreover, 71% of people with disabilities state that they would go out more often if inclusion and accessibility were improved. In response, we introduced "My Big Night Out" a platform in collaboration with Ilunion and Google to transform nightlife by providing training and improving access to information. Additionally, we have released a film to raise awareness and bring this issue to the spotlight. What started months ago as a “What If?” is now a REALITY and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Tennis Champion, Coco Gauff to our Carol’s Daughter Family! It was so important for us to work with someone who stands for the same things as our brand ---resilience, determination, beauty, strength and community empowerment, and I think we found our PERFECT MATCH! 🎾🤎 And to have played a key role in the entire process, from pitching to production to launch, makes this even more meaningful. In the past year, I’ve had the honor of working on so many impactful partnerships including “The Little Mermaid” and “The Color Purple” and to now add this one, where true representation for Black Women and Girls is again at the core, I couldn’t be more proud. These are the things that give me purpose beyond products. So thankful to our wonderful founder Lisa Price, our leaders Detty Nkonko and Noah YUNG-HING, my amazing team Jaylen Swint, Luisa Monique Arias and Elyse Staten, the entire Carol’s Daughter team, our agency partners Patricia Rappaport and Dominique McDonald and our new partners Alessandro Barel Di Sant Albano, Leah Goldman and TEAM8 Sports & Entertainment for your hard work and dedication to making this happen. The Best is yet to come!🤎👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿👏🏼🎾

The Lijadu Sisters' re-release project is a long-overdue attempt to right the wrongs of a music industry that exploited and silenced two pioneering artists. The fact that it took decades for them to regain control of their work and receive some compensation is a damning indictment of the systemic injustices that have perpetuated inequality in the music industry. The project's focus on reparation is a necessary step towards accountability, but it must also be accompanied by a commitment to transparency and structural change. Anything less would be a hollow gesture, perpetuating the same exploitative dynamics that have historically silenced marginalized voices. #LijaduSisters #Nigeria #Music #MusicIndustryReform #ReparationNow #FairnessInMusic #NoMoreExploitation https://lnkd.in/eYPFT_KP
