This is a lengthy post so impressed with anyone who gets to the poem at the end. It’s my 2nd year OR 8th year work anniversary today - as Director of the Graduate School at Griffith University #confused? I’ll let you ponder…..I recently described my time in this role through fairground ride metaphors: the teacup years, the carousel years, the tower of terror years, the dodgem months. I wonder what fairground ride comes next as the #highereducation sector in Oz contemplates and responds to the Accord? So this seems like the right moment to say #thankyou to everyone in this network, and many more networks in my world - for your support, encouragement and connection. As my PhD research reminds us , leadership is a co-created and not an individualised endeavour - and is always situated in the context or field of its time. I was recently reminded of the importance of engaging in creative pursuits - so share this poem with everyone who has been on this journey with and beside me (could also be read as an Ode to Middle Age 🤣). The Phantom Meeting Galloping towards me - All the years I’ve lived ‘til now. Shuffling away from me - All the years I’ve left to live. What if they were to meet - the galloper and the shuffler? What would they say as they passed one another? The galloper: Why are you so slow? The shuffler: Why are you in such a rush? But of course they will never meet. This is the paradox of living. Every decision has led them to this moment, Every choice has led them to these words, All their grief and joy has led them to their being right now. The galloper and shuffler contemplate their phantom meeting. How have we come to be here , they ask? How can we learn from one another, they question? Major props to one of the giants of ResProp Management, Angela Aguilar, celebrating her five-year anniversary with our team!  👉 Angela is a standout leader in so many ways. Most importantly, she’s a servant leader – she’s always hyper-attentive to the needs of the teams she leads, and digs in to help them get the work done – never afraid to dive deep and help push things forward. 💥But Angela is also a fierce competitor.  Think about the affect Michael Jordan had on anyone who played on the same court–he elevated everyone’s game. On Michael’s court, you can't just show up and play–you come and give it your ALL. 👉 Same with Angela – when she commits to anything, it instantly motivates the team and suddenly they find a new gear to complete something that was previously unreachable. It’s a pleasure to work with you Angela – it’s been great fun (with a huge dose of HARD WORK) to build out ResProp with you.  Last word here – Angela’s work ethic is unmatched. You literally have to peel her away from her work. This passion is infectious and again, is something that motivates everyone around her. I joined our “OG” Chicago branch in 2017 when I was just a little 21-year-old baby looking for a place to settle! I started out as a Start Tech and worked my way up to a Reg Tech, Field Manager, Service Manager, Operations Manager, and now a General Manager of the Chicago North Branch! 🎉 🔹 What is your favorite part of your job? Everyone thinks it’s cheesy when managers or employers say this, but it truly is the people I work for. 🛡️💙 I love coming in each day with the goal to genuinely help my employees. I pride myself on creating as diverse and inclusive atmosphere as possible at my branch and our employees truly feel it! 🔹 What's one thing you would tell someone who was thinking about working at EcoShield? Do it. Even if you have some doubts, push those away and just do it. 💪 🔹 If you could pick just one, what would your "spirit bug" be? Hmmm. I would have to choose a honey bee! 🐝 I am super docile and just want to do my job all day every day! I won’t sting, as long as you don’t come after me or my people. 😜 🔹 Who would win in a fight: you or a Tarantula Hawk Spider Wasp? Pshhh it only sounds scary. Just give me a 25-foot pole and I’ll knock their nest right down no sweat. 😅 Maybe give me a bee suit first... or at least a can of wasp freeze. 😂 🔹 What's your secret talent/a fun fact about you? I have an identical twin sister! We are both managers in pest control. 🐜🚫 Not only is it rare to have women in pest control, but two identical twins is crazy! To be a fly one the wall at our family gatherings... it’s quite entertaining so I’ve been told. I guess it runs in the family! 👯 🔹 What is one word you would use to describe EcoShield? Life-Changing. 🙌

How long have you been working with NASCENT?: 1 year and 8 months now (20 months) Favorite memory at NASCENT?: Our last Holydays Party at "Top Golf" - That was FUN! What does a typical day look like for you?: I usually start at 7:30AM by digging through some emails and Teems messages and reviewing my tasks and setting up a goal for a day. We also have our daily stand-up meeting in the morning to report and/or resolve any blockers. Day goes on with fulfilling tasks and performing our best as a team to deliver best possible product. Favorite part of the job?: My favorite part would be to communicate and collaborate with my team members, to resolve an issue or generate a solution. That is an exciting part of my job. Do you have any advice for anyone working at Nascent?: Remember that a job, even a great job or a fantastic career, doesn’t give your life meaning, at least not by itself. Life is about what you learn, who you are or can become, who you love and are loved by.

What does celebrating success look like at your organisation? We had a great time at our company summer party, just over 2 weeks ago, and we're excited to share some of the photos with you ☀ From team presentations to delicious food, and lots of laughter in between, it was a perfect day to celebrate our hard work and achievements. Why celebrate? 🎉 Recognise hard work: our team work so hard, and this was a great way to say "Thank you." 🎉 Boost morale: events like these strengthen our working relationships and keep us motivated moving forwards. 🎉 Create memories: moments like these are the ones we’ll look back on and remember fondly. We believe in celebrating every win, big or small. Whether it’s a summer party, a team lunch, or just a simple shoutout - acknowledge the efforts and achievements within your team. Something that always makes me smile is whenever I see a post about someone leaving a role, or a work anniversary or promotion, when they post on LI a few of their favorite photos of their team or time at the company, RecFest, if they’ve been, usually features in one of those photos. 😀 Always obvious to spot; green grass, blue sky, the lanyard and smiles all around. And I love that people choose something we’ve built as one of their favorite memories. It’s always a boost to me and team, so, as we’re in deep deep planning mode right now, for the 10 year anniversary of RecFest, post your favorite RecFest photo in the comments.
