A conceptual sketch from last year when I was working on residential planning for a client at an internship. Yellow hatching, is the double height cut out which the client made necessary apart from vastu planning. The journey of planning was hard work. But i made it till the end and now it's in the construction phase. Visualizing Before on a piece of paper and then working on software practically works. #architecture #concept

Architecture internships are an eye-opener. I remember when I was interning, I realised I knew so less about materials. Although we learn about conventional materials such as brick, concrete, steel, and glass in college, the material library of the real world is so massive. In fact, today, innovative and sustainable materials are being launched at the drop of a hat. And as architects, it is essential for us to have a sound knowledge of materials because they drive the project. So, if you are a fresh architecture graduate or a student, here are some ways through which you can improve your material knowledge. #1 Attend exhibitions to explore newly launched materials and their applications. #2 Regularly check out design magazines that speak about material innovations. #3 Consume relevant material-focused content on social media to know what’s trending. #4 Explore digital material libraries/ platforms that allow you to discover and order material samples virtually. #5 If you are a professional, carefully try to use one new material in every project. This will give you a hands-on experience with the material. How do you keep yourself up-to-date with the latest materials? #materialdiscovery #materialknowledge #materialbank #materialideas #materialtrends

I am pleased to announce that I have successfully completed my summer internship with Arabcontractors . This practical experience in architecture has been incredibly enriching, and I am proud to receive a grade of “Very Good” for my performance. During my training period, I learned: •Carpentry, how to make wrenches, and most architectural things, theoretically and practically. •Buildings and how to build them correctly, theoretically and practically. •Paints and how to finish walls and shells. •Also, reinforced steel and everything related to it, and how to calculate the reinforcement needed for the work. They gave us a lot of encouragement and care and were keen enough to teach us all they know about the construction in whole, starting with the foundations of the stairs , moving on to the interior finishing and false ceiling of the concourse level, leading to the interior and exterior finishing . #Internship #Architecture #ProfessionalGrowth #ArabContractors #EngineeringSkills #Achievement #Engineering #SummerInternship #Engineering #ConstructionInternship

5 Things Every Architecture Intern Should Focus on to Succeed 💻 🖱️ 📐 📏 (PART 1) Starting your journey in architecture can be both exciting and overwhelming. But here’s the truth—internships are the best time to build a strong foundation for a successful career. Here are five actionable tips I wish I knew as an intern that can help you get ahead: ✨Master the Basics: Before diving into complex designs, make sure you’re rock-solid on the basics—construction drawing, spatial planning, and material understanding. These are the building blocks that will guide your future work. ✨Be Curious and Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Whether it’s about a design detail, construction technique, or software trick, asking is how you learn. No one expects you to know everything, and curiosity shows initiative. ✨Get Hands-On with Software: Take every opportunity to sharpen your software skills. Familiarize yourself with tools like Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite. The more proficient you are, the more valuable you become on any project team. ✨Learn from the Field: Go on site visits as much as possible. Understanding how your drawings translate into real-world construction is crucial. What looks good on paper might have practical challenges in execution—this insight is invaluable. ✨Build Relationships: Network with everyone—your peers, mentors, engineers, and even contractors. Architecture is a collaborative field, and building strong relationships will open doors and create opportunities for the future. Remember, the goal is to absorb as much as possible during your internship. Stay humble, stay eager, and focus on learning. Every experience, no matter how small, contributes to your growth as an architect🤩. Have you got any other tips for aspiring architects? Drop them in the comments! 💬👇 Let’s learn from each other. 📸 - Young Debby as an Intern - 2016* #ArchitectureTips #YoungArchitects #CareerAdvice #InternshipSuccess #ContentLeadership #ArchitectureCommunity

5 Points to keep in mind when applying for Architecture Internships : Part 2 1. Know the Organisation - Be thorough with the company and their work to let them know that you're highly interested in the role. 2. Prepare yourself for the INTERVIEW - Show your willingness to work with the company. Do not negatively talk about the previous organisations if you're applying for a job. It can be a trap!!! 3. Do not apply at the LAST MOMENT - Don't take too much time to apply for internship in the type of company you want to intern with. 4. In-person VISIT - This is highly recommended but for that do not forget to print high quality portfolio print. (Read caption of Part 1 to know more about Portfolios) 5. Accept REJECTIONS - Accept Rejections and do not get discouraged. Instead move on and keep pitching to the companies you want to work with. Learn from your mistakes and sharpen your strengths. Architect | Urban Designer | Interior Designer | Registered Architect - COA | 5+ Years Professional Experience
When I started my first architectural internship back in 2017, I was handed a stack of 25-year-old, hand-drafted sheets and told to recreate them digitally. To say I was frustrated would be an understatement. I questioned the point of this tedious task, wondering, "How will this help me grow as an architect?" But as I dove into each sheet, I began to uncover the story behind every line, detail, and dimension. Those seemingly outdated drawings became my guide into the world of architectural precision. I learned more about structure, craftsmanship, and the art of design in those moments than I ever expected. Looking back, what felt like an irrelevant chore turned out to be the foundation of my architectural journey. It taught me that the heart of great design lies in the details, and that true growth often comes from the tasks we least expect. That experience changed how I approached my work—one of patience, respect, and a deeper connection to the craft. Sometimes, the tasks that seem the most insignificant are the ones that shape who we become. #ArchitecturalJourney #DesignDetails #Craftsmanship #ProfessionalGrowth #ArchitectInTheMaking
