NEW! Ep. 212: HODINKEE, Inc.’s Benjamin Clymer on Agency, Permanence, and the Talismans of Life Ben Clymer grew up in a New York suburb, raised by middle-class public school teachers and enamored by his grandfather’s swagger and style. An Omega Speedmaster, a gift from said grandfather, is the piece that captured his heart and sets his story in motion. A painstakingly shy student, he began to gain self-confidence in high-school and a need to differentiate in college. In 2008 he started a tiny blog, HODINKEE, a passion-project about watches that gained traction and sent him on a mission to get a Master’s in Journalism. Since then, HODINKEE has led to creative collaborations with the most prestigious watch brands and famous rockstars, and grown into a multi-channel platform that has transformed the world of luxury watches. Journalist Diversifying | Creative Communications & Campaigns Lead | Editorial Director of Pier Journal | Secretary of State Appointed Board Member at Exmoor National Park Authority | MP Staffer
Beautiful, insightful #magazines. Use them or lose them. If I've learned anything in my 20+ year journalism career, it's that. Pier Journal is a breath of fresh air, but it'll only stick around if local businesses support it to support them. This post is for #Dorset businesses wanting to reach new audiences (creative, outdoorsy, foodie, ethical folk) in an affordable and soulful way, and support the future of this great-smelling stunner of a journal.👇
We want to celebrate and amplify all the amazing people, places and projects that make Dorset what it is. 💕 But Pier Journal wouldn't exist without your support. We are only able to print and distribute hundreds of copies of the quality journal because of the brilliant businesses and organisations that advertise and partner with us. 🙌 Arts University Bournemouth, Velo Domestique, Make Studio, Cosy Club and others 🙌 If you want to help support our independent magazine while promoting your business to a highly engaged community of Pier readers, contact us today for a media pack and chat: advertise@pierjournal.co.uk The deadline for securing your spot in the summer edition is the end of this month (May). We have a range of options to suit all budgets - starting at just £50! Pls share. #Bargain #Magazines #IndependentJournalism #BuyLocal #SupportTheArts #CreativeCulture Sammy Murphy Laura K Williams Francesca Hughes Olivia Thurlow Bethany Piper

If you care about the performing arts and artists—and want both to thrive—we collectively have to do more to encourage, justify and reward corporate support of the arts. 1. Let businesses know that you value their current support of the arts whether writing a letter, telling a manager/owner, commenting on social media, and, of course, spending money with them. 2. Encourage the businesses you interact with in your day-to-day life to consider supporting your favourite performing arts organizations. Whether it’s your dentist, florist, bank, etc.—support can come in all sizes. 3. For arts organizations and artists, though we always hope support will come through due to a genuine love for the arts, we need to get real about why a business would offer support. This means creating sponsorships pathways that offer value-for-money and create genuine win-wins for all. A logo slapped in a program or a website is not going to be enough anymore. At a time when corporate support, as well as private support, are rapidly declining—we need to be creative, flexible and bold. #supportthearts #corporatesponsorship #performingarts #getcreative #valueformoney

Social Media Marketing Coach helping Small Business Owners and Creatives l Self Care and Online Wellbeing l Writer l LGBTQIA+
How was your weekend? Did you spend it relaxing or working? I visited The Creative Craft Fair at The Assembly House in Norwich on Sunday. Such a stunning building inside and out. I love the fountain ⛲️ . The craft fair was in 2 rooms with a brilliantly curated mix of crafts and creative businesses. It was lovely to see so many local creatives that I know 🙂. How is your week going so far? What is one business or social media goal you want to achieve this week? #motivationalmonday #socialmediacoaching #businesscoaching #goalsetting

International career in law, social justice and science. Exploring the intersection to shape a healthy and sustainable world. Speaker, podcasts and writer, Converse Chronicles. All leading to an exciting 2025.
The Converse Chronicles - launching on Friday 🎉🎉 The first of my new adventures and this one is happening over on Substack. Its where I’ll be bringing together my career in law, social justice and science - and some of my own personal experiences - to explore how strong connections between those three big pillars of a strong society can help us to live on this fragile planet. Every couple of weeks, you can slow down the pace for a few minutes of your day as we ease into some of the issues that matter, and find a mix of creativity, humour and hope. That’s the aim. Reclaiming my own voice and creativity has been incredibly invigorating as I start to share where I think some of the problems are, look at the evidence and open up conversations. I hope it will be a place where we can bring some of those unexpected encounters when you get talking to someone, see or read something and it challenges your outlook on life even just a little bit. Over the last couple of months I’ve certainly experienced some of that and there will be some interesting guest contributors along the way. A friend asked me what cocktail my Substack will be. Well, its starting off as two parts insights, one part humour, two parts intuition and a liberal dash of optimism. Like most cocktails, I’m sure its taste will evolve with time. To subscribe (it’s free content) and find out more about me and what I really think about the world of law, social justice and science - including the bits that I’ve never shared before now - just follow the link. See you there where the first couple of Substacks will ease us in by finding the connection between a pair of shoes, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, science and cancel culture and why sometimes you really should turn left.
