I’ve been hiring a live-in editor for a creator. It’s insane. He is SO much more meticulous about this hire compared to hiring a remote editor or in office editor. When you’re hiring someone to live with you, you don’t just care about: - skills - experience - portfolio You also care about: - character - values - habits It highlights to me that there is more to a person than just their skill. Character matters too and I overlooked this myself until I was hiring people. So if you’re job hunting, don’t just focus on building your CV. Build your character too.

Everyone is hiring talented individuals for a dynamic team. No one is hiring skilled individuals for a stable team. Not everyone is born with talent. Sometimes, a person can be a really good fit for a team based on the years of hands-on experience that he/she has. They might not have the talent, but they have spent years mastering a skill. And why is no one looking for a stable team? Who wants to work in a constant state of change and chaos? It's a recipe for burn-out, confusion and frustration for all team members, tbh. I'm looking for someone to hire me. I know it’s not ideal to say I need clients, but I also have a cash-flow problem that needs attention. Ideally, you would need editing for a fantasy, mystery, thriller, suspense, or dystopian novel. I am really good at: Guiding – guiding authors through the editing process. Advising – advising authors on how to improve the big-picture elements of storytelling. Restructuring – restructuring manuscripts for flow of plot or consistency in the timeline. Recasting – rewriting sentences for clarity and conciseness. Maybe you have a manuscript that needs reorganizing? Maybe you think your readers may struggle to understand your messages? Maybe you know you need an editor, but you’re not ready just yet? Maybe you don't know what you need, but you know you could use an advisor or strategic ear to help you brainstorm solutions? And we live in an age where the world is increasingly devoid of beauty, truth, goodness and great stories. The world is starving for real beauty. The world is starving for truth. The world is starving for wholesome good things. The brands that truly grasp that will be the brands that dominate in the next 100 years. Go tell a story. Go feed the world.
