The 2023 Denver Public Schools Long-Term Safety Plan included a reworking of the DPS Discipline Matrix. This review has been conducted over the past year by a group of DPS teachers, principals, administrators, counselors, as well as parents and community members. Today, we're sharing the updated Discipline Matrix—a quick reference guide designed to refine student discipline policy and ensure equitable implementation across the district. The Discipline Matrix categorizes student offenses and outlines permissible discipline for each level of infraction, promoting consistent action for similar violations across DPS. It is important to note that the Discipline Matrix is not the entirety of DPS behavior prevention, intervention plans, or student safety protocols.
