It's National Public Health Week! This year's theme is "Protecting, Connecting, and Thirving: We Are All Public Health." Today's focus on reproductive and sexual health aims to destigmatize these topics and protect access for all who want it. #NPHW We recognize the vital role of sexual & reproductive health care providers and programs, like OPA-funded #TitleX and TPP projects, in ensuring that people have access to care and services they need to live their best lives—regardless of sex, gender, race, sexual orientation, or where they live.

On Reproductive and Sexual Health Day of #NPHW, Global Health Professor, Dr. Ron Mataya gave us a quick crash course on what is included in this part of health, why it’s important, why we should care, and what we can do to make sure everyone has equal access to this care.

The FSRH - Faculty of sexual and reproductive healthcare spotlighted the ADViSE Programme in an article by Charlotte Chappell, ADViSE Lead. The piece explores the correlation between domestic violence and health, providing a deeper understanding of the programme’s effectiveness in addressing this issue within the sexual health clinic setting. It also underscores the programme’s reach to a diverse range of patients. As a whole, participants desired sexual and reproductive healthcare that was free from judgement and discrimination and patient-centred care that was accessible, affordable, timely, and culturally safe. SEPTEMBER 4th IS WORLD SEXUAL HEALTH DAY… To achieve sexual health for all, we need people to actually be able to access different kinds of care, which means undoing harmful systems! Access to care is about socioeconomic status, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, misogyny, and all the oppressive systems in place in our country. Including these topics in reproductive and sexual health education, conversation, and policy formation is essential! So talk about it and keep talking for positive change and progress ‼️
