GET TO KNOW WIC 💥 Meet WIC Vice President, Josephine, who joined us back in 2020! Learn more about Josephine below... 🌟 What is your advice to anyone wanting to support women in tech? It's a really important role you’re playing – the benefits far outweigh the investment. 🌟 What is your go-to spot in Canberra? A walk around Lake Burley Griffin is beautiful all year-round. 🌟 What is the best career advice you’ve ever received? Be bold. 🌟 Is there a book you’ve watched or podcast you’ve listened to recently that inspired you? If so, what were your key takeaways? ‘Quit: The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away' by Annie Duke. My key takeaway was that quitting something shouldn't be seen in a negative light. Success is not achieved by sticking to things that are not worthwhile. 🌟 What is your favourite WIC event? The Dinner Debate. It's always so much fun. It's a real celebration of the year and provides great recognition for our award winners. #womenintech #meettheteam #volunteer #canberra

As a non-parent, it's really refreshing to see EY taking the time to consider the needs of an often ignored group in both the workplace and society. On average 25% of a workforce/team will not be parents for a variety of reasons, some of them temporary. That's a large group of people in every organisation. My experience is that we are often marginalised, not deliberately, but because the assumption is that non-parents couldn't possibly have any specific needs at work. Have you thought to ask us..? #InclusionMatters #BetterWorkingWorld

New insights: pushing the notion of diversity to new horizons. @EY recently hosted a DE&I roundtable with Jody Day of @Gateway Women, highlighting the importance of diversity for non-protected groups like non-parents, veterans, and the bereaved. The event emphasised the need for inclusive practices beyond legal requirements. Three top insights: • Recognition and executive sponsorship in DE&I communities are critical • There is immense value in connecting and sharing ideas for implementing new practices • The realisation that there is always more to do in DE&I, including reflections on who might still be underrepresented within our organisations It’s fantastic to see so many people making contributions, together, we'll transform these insights into reality 💡🤝 #InclusionMatters #HRLeaders #DiversityAndInclusion #BetterWorkingWorld

"We have observed a disconcerting pattern where Black women leaders are vacating their roles." One of several reasons why I founded the TooREL Institute for Social Change (TISC), and collaborated with Dr. Nkiru Nnawulezi to establish the Transforming the Gender-Based Violence Movement...Project. As a Black woman who has held several "leadership" positions in the non-profit sector, specifically the movement to end gender-based violence, I can absolutely share a personal story (or several personal stories) for every core theme identified in this report- with the exception of #9 (Donor relationship). Donor interaction was never really a part of my "assigned" roles. "What measures must be taken to provide Black women and Black gender-expansive leaders with the support, resources, and infrastructure they need to thrive as they lead?" Reach out to our team at TISC (toorelinstitute.org) to learn more about meaningful strategies to change the narrative and the trajectory of Black women leaders in the movement to end gender-based violence. CELEBRATING WOMEN’S MONTH! Join us in recognising and appreciating the hardworking women who make our organisation what it is today. Your strength, resilience, and brilliance make all the difference. Meet Mrs Sancha Van Heerden Sancha is our Senior Business Developer, responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with other organisations. Her responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, developing innovative business solutions and services, overseeing business administration, managing contracts, and providing comprehensive reports. Sancha also works directly with organisation's management, sales, and marketing teams, analyse current market trends and present new revenue-generating strategies. She also oversees responses to relevant government tenders and grant applications that are aligned with our core business. What’s the significance of Women’s Month for Sancha? “Women’s Month is an important day to reflect on the importance of women in our society. Traditionally, men have been bred to be rulers, leaders, fighters, protectors, hunters, defenders, and breadwinners. The woman performs the role of wife, partner, organizer, administrator, director, disburser, economist, mother, disciplinarian, teacher, health officer, artist and “queen” in the family at the same time. Women and men cannot live without each other. Each gender is equally important when it comes to children and society. Since every other day is a man’s day in a male-dominated society, Women’s Month is an important reminder of the importance of women in the mix”. “I don't go by the rule book. I lead from the heart, not the head.“ Princess Diana #WomensMonth #WomenInBusiness #EnterprisesUP #Empowerment #Leadership #ResearchAndConsultingSolutions

This International Women's Day, I'm filled with gratitude. Today, I stand in solidarity with the remarkable women who've joined me on WinsDay, a platform dedicated to the art and science of sales and marketing. We talk about the strategies, challenges, and innovations shaping the B2B landscape through the lens of some of the most influential women in the industry. Together, we're posting a video collage to not just celebrate influential women but to start a global conversation around the theme of "Inspire Inclusion." Inspiring inclusion isn't just a theme for one day. It's a commitment to making sure every woman feels seen, heard, and valued. From the boardroom to the grassroots, inclusion means creating spaces where every woman's presence is not just welcomed but essential. Join us as we: 💜 Reflect on our individual and collective efforts to contribute to a more inclusive world. 💜 Share learnings and the impact of embracing diverse perspectives. 💜 Highlight what's working in our respective fields to create an environment where every woman can thrive. 💜 Discuss new initiatives we are exploring to further the cause of women's inclusion. Let's pledge to make inclusion not just an initiative but a part of our identity. Because when we lift each other up, we all rise.
