🚨THE 180-DAY EMPLOYEMENT RESTRICTION ONLY APPLIES TO RETIREES APPLYING TO DoD (United States Department of Defense) AGENCIES🚨 I don't know who else needs to hear this, but I've been asked twice today so I figured I would make a post. The 180-Day Restriction on Department Of Defense (DOD) Employment following military service ONLY applies to active-duty Military Retirees, and only if they are applying to jobs within DOD. Applicable agencies include the DoD itself; the Departments of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force; Defense Threat Reduction Agency; Defense Health Agency; Army/Air Force Civilian Service; etc. The 180-Day Restriction DOES NOT prevent an active-duty military retiree from getting a job with any other federal agency immediately upon separation. In fact, they can even start work while on terminal leave! If you want to work with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, #FEMA, #EPA, #DOL, or any of the other non-DoD agencies within the federal government, APPLY! If you have questions, reach out.

Military recruiting is taking a hit. Does anyone else think overhauling the military structure may be in order? The most senior E9 still answers to the most junior O1 regardless of education or experience. (I know people who are/were E7/8s with PhDs). If you were to build a new one from scratch today what would it look like? The days of needing a sophisticated officer who could read and write to control the enlisted who couldn't and to communicate orders received on horseback or by a pigeon are in the past.
