These 3 areas should be a must study for every food science and Technology student; Before I proceed, I'd like you to know that food science and Technology is not all about cooking vegetable soups and the likes.😭 I cooked a meal during the weekend and after a series of compliments I got, someone went ahead to say: That's what she's studying in school na, so it must be good. At that moment, I was like “not again!!!” As a matter of fact, I know of some individuals that study FST but their culinary skills are nothing to write home about. Again, FST is not about cooking. There's a lot more to it than you know and there are 3 areas every food science and Technology individual must know; 📌 Food laws and standards; Navigating the complex web of food regulations and standards is essential for ensuring food safety and marketability. 📌 Food chemistry. Students explore the composition of various food components (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids) and how they interact during processing, storage, and preparation. 📌 Food microbiology. They learn about factors influencing microbial growth in food, methods for food preservation, and ensuring food safety throughout the entire food chain (from farm to fork).
