We welcome the focus of Fannie Mae in this area, and believe our scale- and market-tested technology puts us in a leading position to participate in their pilot program.” says Max Simkoff, Doma CEO. I had a busy May, so this slipped under my radar. That quote is from the Q1, 2024 Doma financial reporting. I’m livid. As someone who believes that my life’s work has been to protect the most important asset most Americans will ever possess, watching a top 10 underwriter work to tear it down is soul crushing. Why on earth would any title agency support Doma? I know so many good folks who work for the former NATIC. That was a good company. Watching Doma tear it down while it attempts to fundamentally and negatively alter the profitability of their own agents, all while harming the stability of the American real estate economy, turns my stomach. If you write for Doma and you feel like I do, message me. If I can’t help with our underwriter in your market, I will call a friend who can on your behalf. Curative work is an action performed to produce a clean or marketable title. This is done before a transaction closes. 🌟 36% of transactions require substantial curative work. 62% of files require at least 4 curative actions per transaction, on average. The most common types of curative actions resolve issues related to loan payoffs, property taxes, and home owner association dues. Time to close a file: Standard file= 22 work hours. Difficult files that require substantial non routine title clearance efforts= 45 hours.
