This is Oslo in 2009 and 2024. In 2009 - Highways and concrete dominated the landscape, with cars taking center stage. Over at WCTD I am continuing to collect cases for circular textiles, people & society. As I sit here in the garden, working from home today and surrounded by materials and samples, I am reminded of how desperate designers and entrepreneurs are for affordable work spaces. As a creative, I know only too well how utterly vital it is to have access to light and airy spaces, where visual stimulus can be spread out, enabling a flow state to take over. It seems to be more and more of a luxury to have this, especially in urban contexts. Along with investment in tech, we need investment in affordable work spaces, to support the next generation of thinkers and doers...

Loved being part of the Mayor of London's Better Futures Net Zero Innovation Challenge 'Pitch Day' yesterday. 5 (incredibly fast) minutes to pitch Jump and our engagement/behaviour change solution to a room of innovation and sustainability folks AND listen to some of the incredible innovations in the sustainability space. Things like this are one of the reasons I love my job. It's easy to lose yourself in the enormity of the climate crisis and how we are going to turn the tide. The YouRban project, funded by Horizon Europe and coordinated by Politecnico di Milano, tackles the challenge of #reinforced #polymer #waste in urban areas by involving citizens, artists, and designers. This collaborative effort centers around a mobile workshop—a truck equipped to recycle and repurpose end-of-life materials—bringing the circular economy directly to city streets. 🚛 Today, we’d like to dive a bit deeper into what Syxis is doing in this project! 👇 🔹 At Syxis, we’re committed to driving co-creation and knowledge-sharing within YouRban. Here’s how we’re contributing: 1. #CoCreation Tool Development: We’re creating a tailored tool specifically designed for urban and circular economy contexts. Accessible through the cloud, this tool will support creative and regenerative recycling projects, helping stakeholders connect, collaborate, and build sustainable solutions for cities. 2. #Knowledge Transfer Platform - Y4L: Syxis is launching “Y4L,” a customized version of our Hub4Learn platform, to facilitate knowledge transfer. Over the past three years, my colleagues and I have been dedicated to developing a #sustainability #governance #model for Tallinn. We live in an era of multiple, simultaneous crises—climate change, aging populations, pandemics, security challenges, and more. These complex challenges require equally complex solutions. That’s why we must modernize the principles of public sector governance. It’s time to leave behind the outdated, siloed, post-industrial governance model. To build resilient, inclusive, and innovative cities for a sustainable future, we need to move towards modern, more holistic management approach focused on leading change.
