Hey network engineers 👋 This is a call for action 👨🎤 you know we have been one of the early gNMI adopters. SR Linux was gNMI-first from its inception, gNMIc was conceived internally, and we did a bunch of community work to popularize the gNMI-based streaming telemetry. Lately we have been contributing to #gNMI specification by working on the the Commit Confirmed and Depth extensions, and now we are proposing another one -- 🤖 Config Subscription. With this post we are inviting everyone to have a look at this extension and, most importantly, seeking to hear if you would like to see this extension merged in. Do you find it useful? Will it potentially help you building more robust network automation systems? Leave a comment, we need them! What is Config Subscription extension about? 📺 I did a 15mins video with the demo (link in the first comment) to explain it in details, but as a short summary: Config Subscription extension allows clients to 1. Subscribe to configuration only changes for a given path 2. Identify when all the changes have been streamed out to correlated received changes with a commit that caused them. With this extension we are proposing a way to enhance gNMI to allow for more robust network automation systems and closed loop paradigms. In this post, we look at what is required to configure vPC: - Enabling vPC - Enabling LACP - Creating a VRF for the peer keepalive - Configuring the peer keepalive - Configuring the peer link Then a Ubuntu host with two NICs is configured to run LACP and we verify that the vPC is up.
