Last month, we had the exciting opportunity to attend the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago with 50,000+ restaurant industry professionals. So many of the conversations there reflected insights from this year’s DoorDash Restaurant & Alcohol Online Ordering Trends report: - 86% of consumers order on third-party apps at least 2X per month. - 33% of consumers actively seek out local independent restaurants in their area. - 40% of consumers are using alcohol delivery more than last year. - Menu selection and pricing are the top priorities for consumers when choosing new restaurants. - 30% of Gen Zers who use social media to find new restaurants prefer TikTok. Restaurant operators have so many choices to make — from packaging to technology to food suppliers — but the biggest focus is serving great food and great experiences, regardless of how a customer interacts with them. How do you feel about dynamic pricing for restaurants? Will pricing only increase over the normal menu price or also go below the usual pricing (ie on slow days, off-peak hours)? I am not a fan. Something to be said for consistent, fair, transparent pricing. #restaurantindustry #pricingoptimization #edlp

Looks like extending into grocery is working for big name restaurant brands - especially at the weekend. What’s also interesting is that certain brands appear to do better on different days. Data from Ocado Group reveals that Friday is the most popular delivery day for products from Franco Manca, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, LEON Restaurants and PizzaExpress while Sunday’s the day for Nando's UK & IRE, wagamama and YoSushi. The trend to building a grocery presence - pioneered by the likes of Nando’s and PizzaExpress - is also seeing upscale brands prosper. Ocado says sales of sauces from Gymkhana have doubled this year, for example Only downside is the coining of the term ‘fakeaways’ - which I suspect the restaurant brands hate. #restaurants #grocery https://lnkd.in/ehc33ysA
