Understanding SOSA | e-Book 2024 The SOSA™ (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) Consortium is developing common open standards for designing, building, and deploying hardware, software, and firmware components for sensor-based electronic systems used by the military. Contributing members to SOSA are U.S. government organizations including the U.S. DoD, Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as key representatives from industry and universities. SOSA consists of a group of existing open standards that provide a flexible foundation for embedded systems used in Radar, EO/IR, SIGINT, EW, and communications. Objectives include vendor interoperability, lower procurement costs, easy technology upgrades, and longer life cycles of these mission-critical systems. This eBook provides an overview of the SOSA standard, covering challenges, successful strategies, and illustrative examples from key companies with a focus on electronic systems for RF & Microwave applications. Honored to support NAVAIR PMA-209 Avionics Architecture (AAT) Open Architecture Engagement Team. Connecting Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) Leaders, Experts, Solutions | Think HOST, SOSA™, FACE®, CMOSS
Exciting, and just published by RADM John Lemmon - a glimpse of this must-read: "Acquisition Standards Can Be a Two-Way Street". PEO(T) employs innovative development processes. We know the Navy must develop technology faster—but it has to do so affordably. That means the Navy and industry must continue to strengthen their partnership. One way to do so is through a modular open-systems approach (MOSA). ... PEO(T)’s Air Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA-209) (CAPT Jarrod Hair, PM) leads MOSA efforts for avionics, sensors, and mission systems across Naval Air Systems Command–affiliated programs. Its avionics architecture team promotes multiple open standards. One was developed and sponsored in-house called Hardware Open Systems Technologies (HOST), a technical standard for high-performance embedded computing. Historically, the best most small businesses could hope for was to be selected to perform work as a subcontractor to a major prime. But open standards create more opportunities for Tier 2 and 3 vendors to compete directly. ... more here: https://lnkd.in/gGeWrjd5 United States Department of Defense US Navy Department of the Navy Office of Small Business Programs Carlos Del Toro Lisa Franchetti Hon. The Marine Corps is set to advance the U.S. military's joint command-and-control capabilities with its potential new initiative, Project Dynamis, aligning with the Department of Defense's Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) vision. Announced by Col. Jason Quinter at the WEST 2024 conference, Project Dynamis aims to interconnect the Marine Corps within a unified network leveraging cutting-edge technologies like AI, cloud computing, and automation. This initiative will modernize outdated equipment and software, enhancing the Corps' communication, networking, and operational capabilities against evolving global threats. Project Dynamis, representing a significant stride in network modernization, seeks to expedite the DoD's goal of seamless sensor-to-shooter connectivity and is poised to join the ranks of the Navy's Project Overmatch, the Army's Project Convergence, and the Air Force's Advanced Battle Management System in transforming military operations for future conflicts. #marinecorps #projectdynamis #jadc2 #modernization #technology #ai #cloudcomputing #militaryinnovation #networkmodernization #futurefight Source- https://lnkd.in/gGkSX9hQ

"The contract awarded to QRS is for designing quantum computing software to handle military logistics for the Air Force. The agreement, worth $2.5 million, is expected to run for three years and could usher in an era of quantum computing for the entire U.S. Armed Forces. The U.S. Air Force traditionally relies on classical binary computers to handle its supply chain, a relic from the 80s. While considered a decent alternative, classical binary computers fall short in handling supply chain logistics in the modern era, given the myriad aircraft parts and a growing number of military bases." Progression towards a logistics automation standard is a positive step for any military and - regardless of the system used within a nation or military - Nexus LCM's Joint Enterprise Data Interoperability (JEDI-X) approach can seamlessly integrate it into NATO'S LOGFAS suite for multinational logistics collaboration. JEDI-X enables interoperability and has already been adopted by Services across the DoD. JEDI-X improves the velocity and quality of available data to technicians, planners, decision makers, and decision support tools by providing contextually accurate data for re-use across information systems and organizational boundaries.
