As a fundraiser, it’s important to think about the reasons why people donate to charity. What is it that motivates them? Each individual will have their own reasons for giving - even corporate donors and their teams usually have a cause in mind that’s linked to something that unites them in some way. According to a survey by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), the things that tend to influence charitable giving the most include: 💭 Faith and religion. 💭 Personal experience. 💭 A belief in a particular cause. And of course - values. Personal values are critical for charitable giving, and the survey demonstrated that an overwhelming amount of people give to charity because they felt a sense of duty, to pay it forward and to help tackle inequality. Scenario: You notice excess inventory is starting to take up a lot of space in your warehouse. You think "we need to get rid of this!" so you donate.. Great! Except..🤨 Most charities don't have the ability to turn that product into something valuable...So you may be creating more work for them than they can take on 😬 What's a charity for kids supposed to do with table saws? Or how are they supposed to move 50,000 mugs?! They don't have the capacity.
