Clean school buses coming to a town near you! 🚌 EPA’s Clean School Bus Rebate Program most recent round of funding went to 530 districts across the nation for 3,400 new clean school buses. So far, through the Program's various grant and rebate funding opportunities, the EPA has allocated almost $3 billion to replace 8,500 school buses at over 1,000 schools. Across WRA's region, 10 school districts in Arizona are receiving $8.3 million, five districts in Colorado are receiving $6.4 million, three in Utah are getting $1.5 million, and one school district in New Mexico is receiving $6.9 million in rebates for electric school buses, totaling about $16.7 million. School Bus season is back! Here are some reminder tips from Alberta Transportation to keep our students safe: 🚸Use caution and be alert when driving near buses and in school zones. 🚸Watch out for alternating flashing amber lights, which means a school bus is slowing to stop where students will either be getting on or off the bus. 🚸Slow down and stop when the school bus activates its alternately flashing red lights. This means you must stop whether you are approaching an oncoming bus or following one. The only exception to this rule is when the bus is on the opposite side of a two-way highway that is physically divided by a median. 🚸Proceed only when the red lights on the bus have stopped flashing. 🚸Watch for school buses loading and unloading children, even if the lights aren't flashing. 🚸 Be on the lookout for children crossing the road. #SchoolBusSafety #BackToSchool #Students #BeSafe

Today, more than 350,000 students across the nation rode, walked, scooted, or skated to school as part of Bicycle Network's National Ride2School Day. Days such as this highlight the need for both connected cycle paths and safer student crossings across Western Australia. WALGA’s State Budget Submission calls for funding for Local Governments to implement key connecting projects on the State Government’s Long-Term Cycle Network, in addition to $5 million between 2024-25 and 2028-29 to convert children’s crossings on high-speed, high-volume roads to signalled pedestrian crossings. Enabling students to safely walk and ride to local schools through a continuous network of Active Transport infrastructure reduces car trips, congestion, and parking pressure, as well as improves health outcomes through increased physical activity. Kremmling, CO is one of the coldest spots in the state during the winter. And the West Grand County School District, the district serving students in Kremmling, is operating electric buses to take the kids to school, even in the winter! The district also received a grant recently from the US EPA to purchase more electric school buses. Check out the story below to learn why the district loves #electric #schoolbuses!

Green Washing: Electric school buses: 1. Do nothing to address the fundamental defect that roads make it unsafe to children to walk and bike to school. 2. Do nothing to reduce the energy burnt to move 2-tons to move a child. Following the 1973 Oil Embargo government car-centrix planning in the US, Sweden, and Denmark diverged. From the same per person safety and energy consumption in 1973 Sweden and Denmark worked to kill 400% fewer bike riders and pedestrians, and consume 60% less oil per person than US government policies. US policies continue sprawl and Green Washing like electric school buses instead of addressing the fundamental need to make walkable and bikeable cities. Radically unlike its neighboring cities, Palo Alto, CA made their streets safe and 56% of students bike to school.

Great factual & mature response by the Propane Education & Research Council here below 👇 We at Roush & ROUSH CleanTech have always and will always be proponents of all clean energy types for transportation. 🚌 🔋⚡️ ⛽️ 💨 ☀️ 💧 🛻 It will take all domestic energies working together as we head towards the zero emissions future. 🍃 🌎 🍃 The school bus market is still 75%+ diesel and a lot of those diesel school buses are “ pre-emission” diesel buses that are up for replacement. I have seen so many success stories of school bus & transit fleets that have implement both propane & electric vehicles that compliment each other well. Some are even using renewable propane and off grid charging stations powered by propane so the electric fleet can remain up! Shouldn’t we be working together towards reducing harmful emissions as quickly as possible in our communities (which may mean multiple alt fuel solutions?) 🤷🏻♂️
