Just under 2 weeks to go, and still plenty of spaces left if you'd like to join us. This will be the first Countdown event to use the UPDATED DICTIONARY! Updated dictionary? What's that all about then? Well, it's the cause of much recent drama and excitement in the Countdown community ... About a month ago, Oxford Dictionaries Premium (the dictionary which Countdown on TV and all Countdown events uses) suddenly removed around 93,000 words from the dictionary. Yes, you read that right: 93,000! There's more detailed background to this, but basically, most of the words which were removed were fairly obscure or outdated words which don't really get used in everyday life. You won't see the effect of this change on the TV show yet, as the episodes currently being broadcast were filmed before this change, but they'll catch up in around a month or so. The effect of this change is going to be interesting to see ... the super-serious Countdown players are now frantically trying to unlearn a whole load of words which are no longer valid. What it means for my Countdown in London event is quite probably a levelling of the playing field, and less predictable outcomes. So basically, come along and play, regardless of how good or not you think you might be! Besides, I've got loads of prizes, and they won't only go to the winners ... everyone will have the opportunity to win some kind of prize for some kind of reason which I've not quite decided on yet! 🤣 Details on how to enter are at https://lnkd.in/gfBdJucT
