Hybridizing human expertise and clinical software for better healthcare delivery!! Drug-drug and drug-disease interactions are one of the critical information required to provide proper pharmaceutical care. Pharmacist is expected to provide this information but it is not memorizable, there are millions of interactions, too big for any human brain to memorize. Due to this limitation, it is usually ignored especially at the retail pharmacy unless when the patient enquires and the pharmacist can check on online databases such as Medscape Some drugs are a combination of more than one molecule. For instance, you are giving a patient Beecox Mr and Entamaxin, and then the patient informs you that she is on Tamoxifen and wants to know if they are compatible. There is a 99% chance that the pharmacist does not know and has to refer to medical references. Assuming the pharmacist checks the interactions using Medscape, he will have to type every drug molecule. Both Entamaxin and Beecox MR have three molecules. Medscape does not know any of them and their composition. He will have to enter all six (seven) drug molecules, a time-consuming task. Some patients are allergic to certain elements or structural components of compounds such as sulphur, imidazole ring. Still, the patient expects the pharmacist to know the structure of every drug molecule but it is impossible. Pharmacists usually google to find out the structure of every molecule they are dispensing if the patient says they are allergic to something. This is a time-consuming task that may make any impatient waiting client go to another chemist.
