Interesting findings about how #OCTA could be used to detect changes in the retinal vasculature during and between migraine attacks. Results suggest that changes in retinal perfusion could be part of the pathophysiology of #migraine.
New clues about the role of the retina in #migraine visual symptoms: Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) results from UCLA Department of Neurology show differences in retinal microvasculature between people with migraine with and without aura. This research paves the way to establishing new OCTA biomarkers for this condition. Read more from Headache: https://lnkd.in/eQ34ZD5x

🔬Live videos from our neurology labs shows some of the exciting experiments that our research teams are conducting on a daily basis. In this experiment, InnoSer scientists have compared the neuromuscular function of healthy (WT) and diseased research subjects (C3-PMP22 research model of Charcot Marie Tooth Disease Type 1A, #CMT1A). Briefly, the hindlimbs of the research models have been stimulated and compound muscle action potentials (#CMAPs) recorded, showing significant changes in CMAP compared to healthy subjects. Calculation of latency and CMAP annotation are performed manually by our scientists to ensure accurate results. All in all, this confirms that this research model of CMT1A has significantly impaired neuromuscular function, confirming its suitability as a preclinical research model for efficacy testing of novel CMT1A targeted treatments. 👉 Read more about the C3-PMP22 model of #CMT1A here: https://lnkd.in/eSEm96Z4 👉 Interested in using the C3-PMP22 mouse model for your research? We are pleased to share our latest publication at #KlinikumStuttgart in collaboration with the Neurology and Neuroradiology Department of the Inselspital Bern, recently published in Neurocritical Care. The study focuses on endovascular recanalization for patients with severe sinus thrombosis, a procedure that remains significantly underrepresented in clinical practice but appears to provide a significant benefit for patient outcomes. „The main finding of this retrospective multicenter cohort study indicates a significant increase in functional independence after early versus late EVT (66.7% vs. 27.3%) in patients with severe CVST prone to a poor prognosis. We observed a nonsignificant but potentially clinically relevant reduction in mortality (16.7% vs. 36.4%) for early EVT“ Here is the link to the full Open Access article: https://lnkd.in/e4rdPfKj Special thanks to Prof. Hans Henkes for his continuous support and Philipp Bücke for his excellent work on this topic. #EVT #CVST #mechanical #thrombectomy #neurointervention #neurology Philipp Bücke Hans Henkes Alexandru Cimpoca Johannes Kaesmacher

Check out the great work on CLDN1 and organ fibrosis presented by Prof. Pierre-Louis Tharaux's team and Prof. Wim Wuyts's team at the ERA and ATS conferences. Their collaborative research is paving the way for future treatment strategies. #FibrosisResearch #Innovation #ERA2024 #ATS2024"
Today we announced two presentations at the European Renal Association (ERA) and American Thoracic Society (ATS) conferences this May. The outstanding work performed by the research groups at @KULeuven and @Inserm show that #CLDN1 plays a key role in the early pathogenesis of #fibrosis. It further validates CLDN1 as a therapeutic target across fibrotic indications, in this case #IPF and crescentic #glomerulonephritis in ANCA-associated vasculitis.
