Is gynecomastia covered under any mediclaim for government schemes in India as on 2024? https://lnkd.in/dSmFhcsh Having larger breasts can be highly upsetting for a man. However, the growth of breast tissues in men does not usually result in health problems. Patients rarely receive claim acceptance for male breast reduction surgery since insurance companies do not consider emotional factors when giving reimbursement for a specific ailment or treatment. To have the procedure covered by health insurance or mediclaim, a patient must meet certain conditions. The criteria are as follows: 1.) The patient should have glandular and fat tissue growth, or solely glandular tissue growth. The procedure is deemed aesthetic if the patient has pseudogynecomastia (just fat tissues). 2.) The patient must be an adult who has had the illness for at least two years. 3.) The problem has progressed to levels II, III, or IV. 4.) Breast enlargement causes pain, discomfort, and problems with posture, among other things. 5.) The patient has stopped using the drugs or treatments that caused the hormonal imbalance that causes gynecomastia in the first place. 6.) Despite addressing the root cause, the problem continued. 7.) Klinefelter Syndrome is to blame for the hypertrophy. 8.) Cancerous tissue growth has occurred. 9.) In all of the cases listed above, patients can easily obtain permission from health insurance providers and receive the greatest quality therapy without worrying about the cost. Are new clinics focusing on the wrong patients? Many new clinics aim to sell expensive procedures, often starting at ₹50,000 (~$600), targeting high-paying clients. They invest in luxurious facilities but struggle financially, relying on a small segment of affluent patients without fully understanding India’s market realities. Here’s a breakdown of India’s income distribution: • 3% earn over ₹3 million [Rich] • 30% earn over ₹0.5 million [Middle Class] • 52% earn around ₹125,000 [Aspirers] • 15% earn less than ₹125,000 [Destitutes] Most clinics compete for the top 8-10%, overlooking the 90% of the population that cannot afford such high costs. The result is many clinics burning money, chasing a few wealthy patients. Harvee Healthcare, I advise clinics to focus on affordable care and compete with government hospitals, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. By targeting a broader audience, providing cost-effective treatments, and educating patients about government insurance, clinics can build trust and loyalty. This approach leads to sustainable growth while serving the majority of the population. Should clinics focus more on serving the majority of the population, or will the current trend toward luxury healthcare continue? #hospital #clinic #affordable

Overheard a conversation: "The tests and medicines in the USA are remarkably more expensive than in India For example, was prescribed ozempic it was $10.00 for 30 day supply and as soon as my insurance changed it became $1750.00 for 30 day supply which became unaffordable" Imagine such a thing happening in India! India truly has the potential to become a global center for healthcare with its reasonable costs, skilled labour, growing number of specialists and an in-built demand driven by its own growing population. While we have some distance to cover in terms of providing basic healthcare facilities to the entire population ,when it comes to tertiary care vis a vis the world- we are one of the best. #MedicalTourism #MedicalValueTravel #IndiaHealthcare #HospitalsinIndia #SuperspecilaitiesinIndia #HealInIndia

China has installed URINE-ANALYSERS at the URINALS itself. At Indian School of Business, I learned that the best solutions do NOT alter Consumer Behaviour. So, can integrating Urine Analysis at 11Cr URINALs🚽in🇮🇳be the key to scalable Preventive Health? ➡ From an INSURER's point of view, 💵 It'd want to keep its ICR (Incurred Claim Ratio) as low as possible. 🆓 And to ensure that they provide a FREE Health Check per year 🔺 In order to charge a PREMIUM accordingly. ✅ What if, the Insurers provide Urine Analysis at a company's URINAL for all employees covered under a Group Insurance of that company? ▪ It could be 1 FREE such test per month there by ▫ NOT just creating a Direct Awareness for the Consumer ▪ BUT also softly Push the consumer to meet ▫ A DOCTOR in its network in turn ▪ Increasing the OPD footfall. This would eventually ▫ Decrease the IPD load hence the ICR as well. ✅ What if the govt. could also do the same? ▪ The govt. spent Rs.7,200Cr out of ▫ The total Central Health Budget on ABPMJAY scheme to ▪ Pay for the IPD Bills of the ▫ ~35Cr Indians who fall under this scheme. It definitely provides the cushion to people as They don't have to worry in case of hospitalisation BUT at some point the govt. will have to rationalise these costs. ✅ What if the govt. installed such Urine Analysis Urinals in the 11Cr Toilets that it has built since last 10 years? (Refer: https://bit.ly/4d2wn9D | Statista) On the whole, I've 2 QUESTIONS that I'd like all to respond on: 👩🔬Can't we, in India, think Creatively & build INDIGENOUS solutions? 👨⚕️What other PROBLEMS need attention for PREVENTIVE care? PS: Such a device won't need much Regulatory Compliance. This is a personal post and does not represent views of my employer. The junior doctors in this video are posing relevant questions that could determine the future of healthcare in India. If government hospitals cannot guarantee the safety of workers, then how can they guarantee health for citizens? If citizens cannot access healthcare, then how will we build #India? #rgkar #safetyisahumanright
