'My Health, My Right’, the theme for World Health Day this year, was chosen to champion everyone's right to quality health services.
Our experts are passionate in their determination to make this right a reality in the harshest contexts. We believe that access to quality health services is a non-negotiable human right, no matter where you are.
An excellent example of this is the comprehensive assessment our experts, Elisabeth Kleipool, Myrte Wassenaar, John Ifejube, Nima Yaghmaei, Sandra Alba, Nadine Naumann, Rifat Rahman, and Marjolein Dieleman, conducted for the World Health Organization (WHO) in #Afghanistan last year.
They mapped all health workers across the country to assess the supply and need for different types of health workers. Despite the ongoing challenges in Afghanistan, our experts, the WHO, and local stakeholders were able to provide insights to drive decision-making in the hopes of achieving universal health coverage.
“The results highlight the shortages of health workers in Afghanistan and the need to allow female enrollment in medical training programmes and universities. Female health workers are the core of primary health services and support better access to health services for women and children,” emphasises Marjolein.
