What we should know about menstrual period Menstruation is a human rights issue. Period is not a taboo; it should be discussed like every other topic. No woman or girl should be made to experience menstruation with shame. Girls/women who do not have access to the resources to manage their menstrual hygiene have high tendency of not being able to manage their reproductive health issues. Society should not forget that being able to menstruate is the first sign that a girl is becoming a woman and will soon be ready to go into the world and multiply/procreate. A woman who has just given birth needs not to use unclean products which can lead her to infections and disease that can endanger her live and that of the child. There is secondary period poverty which can happen to anybody at any point in time, including the rich. Over the past 50 years, fertility rates in Malaysia have decreased rapidly. 📉 In 2023, it was recorded that birth rates dropped to 1.6 children per woman aged 15-49 years old in the country. 👩🍼 👶 Such an occurrence has contributed to the progression of Malaysia becoming an ageing nation. By 2040, it is anticipated that 15% of the population will be above 60 years old. 👨🦳 👵 This statistic also adds to the rise of ‘childless families’ in Malaysia, which are households comprising couples who either choose not to have children or face difficulties in doing so. 👫 But one real question lies in the finding of this concept: What is causing Malaysians to make either choice? 🧐 Do personal issues tied to one’s fertility increase the struggle for couples to conceive? 🤰 Are the country’s economic burdens causing married couples to reconsider having children entirely? 💸 Or do some adults, simply, not want to have kids? 👨👩👧👦 Click on the link below to find the answers to these questions. ⬅️ 🔍 #wikiimpact #Malaysia #society #change #impact #awareness #important #data #datadriven #community #socialimpact #economicburden #infertility #childless #childlessfamilies #ageing #ageingnation #birthrates #children #kids #population

Women Make Up Half of Our Population. Yet, When It Comes to Healthcare, They Are Invisible. Postpartum depression, menopause, sexual health, endometriosis, PCOS—these issues are often ignored or brushed aside. The stigma is real, and the consequences are devastating. “Menstruation” and “fertility treatment” felt like taboo subjects in the workplace - Why be open about issues unique to women? Women face a range of health issues in their different life stages and many of them are linked to menstruation. It is believed that women today go through 300 to 400 more menstrual cycles in their life time compared to prehistoric women who repeatedly gave birth from a younger age. There are many female-specific illnesses, such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids, that women are more likely to develop due to experiencing more periods, fewer pregnancies and less breastfeeding. Toyoizumi, who works at the Japan patient advocacy team in Kyowa Kirin, set eyes on the diversity of working women and health issues unique to them. She proposed taking action to deepen understanding of periods and fertility treatment in the company. Read more about Toyoizumi’s story by clicking: https://lnkd.in/gUBVJWCH #DE&I #betterworkplace

🌟 Understanding Menstrual Irregularities in Girls 🌟 Menstruation is a sign of maturity or puberty in girls. This occurs on specific days each month, known as the menstrual cycle. However, some girls may experience irregular cycles, making it challenging to manage and maintain a safe environment during their period. Here are some factors that can cause menstrual irregularities: 💠 Age: Women aged 40 and above are at risk of irregular periods due to decreased ovarian function and reduced egg quality. 💠 Pregnancy: Irregular periods can occur if a girl is pregnant. 💠 Stress: Stress can affect the body's functioning, leading to irregular menstrual cycles. 💠 Infections: Poor health due to infections, such as viruses, can disrupt a girl's menstrual cycle. 💠 Lifestyle Changes: Changes in weight, whether loss or gain, can affect the menstrual cycle. 💠 Uterine Cancer: Girls with uterine cancer may experience irregular periods. 💠 Contraceptive Pills: Reckless use of birth control pills can also lead to menstrual irregularities. These are just a few reasons among many that can cause menstrual challenges. To properly manage and understand your menstrual health, it's best to have personal consultations with a doctor for close monitoring and guidance.
