It is crucial to educate children and adolescents about reproductive health, including family planning, at an early stage to empower them to make informed decisions. In our country, there are approximately 2.2 million unsafe abortions annually, reproductive health discussions are often taboo, child marriage and abuse are prevalent, maternal mortality rates are high, and gender-based violence is widespread. Failing to provide adequate education to our youth can have detrimental effects. Implementing a Life Skills Based Education (LSBE) program that includes reproductive health information and abuse prevention is essential. These messages should be adapted to be culturally sensitive. Creating safe spaces for children to openly discuss these topics is vital. Let's not harm them by withholding important information.

I am incredibly honored to chair Planned Parenthood of Michigan's Detroit Choice Event this year. I am posting this on LinkedIn, a business site, because reproductive health and access to contraception are business issues. I hope you will consider joining me as a sponsor for the event and attending on May 14th if you're in the Detroit area. A few facts to consider*: Fully one-third of wage gains women have made since the 1960s are a result of access to oral contraceptives; Being able to get the pill before age 21 has been found to be the most influential factor in enabling women in college to stay in college; Access to birth control has led to more college-educated women pursuing advanced degrees. Women now comprise more than 50% of medical and law school classes; Access to subsidized contraception reduces child poverty in the short run and adult poverty a generation later; and Every dollar spent on contraception saves more than $7 of public spending due to unwanted pregnancies For more than 100 years, Planned Parenthood has promoted a common-sense approach to sexual and reproductive health and well-being based on respect for each individual's right to make informed, independent decisions about sex, health, and family planning. Its mission is to be a leading provider of non-judgmental, high-quality sexual and reproductive health care and education, a committed community partner in advancing equity, and a fierce advocate for access to health care for all. *sources: Institute for Women’s Policy Research, the Joint Economic Committee, Planned Parenthood Hillary LeVasseur Noreen Paholak Paula Thornton Greear (She/Her/Hers)

One in four women experience intimate partner violence (IPV), and these rates can be even higher for people with marginalized identities (e.g., LGBTQIA+, people of color). Reproductive health care providers have a unique role in preventing and responding to IPV. This webinar from the OPA-funded Reproductive Health National Training Center (RHNTC) discusses what IPV can look like, how it affects a person’s overall and reproductive health, and how family planning providers can practice an inclusive approach to assessment and response to ensure more clients experiencing IPV receive the support they need. https://lnkd.in/e2uEq2W5

Pragmatism in problem solving. Simple solutions to wicked challenges. The girl child can have challenges of attending school during her periods: no money to buy sanitary pads. government is not helping. consequently girl stops going to school and may eventually drop out. what a shame. yet there is a simple solution: teach the girl how to make her own reusable pads. This is what Francoise Riisa Kauzya Founder and executive director of Action for Reproductive Health (ARH) is doing. These girls from Rwentanga Primary School were mobilised with their two teachers one of whom is a man to come to our nearby home and learn how to make their own reusable pads. problem solved! Why don't people go for such simple affordable solutions instead of begging unresponsive government? ARH#girl child challenges# men involvement in Reproductive Health.
