💙🤍❤️I can't vote in the US, ...but the sheer global power of this country - its being the greatest political, economic and financial power - turns their elections into domestic politics for all citizens of the world. So, I feel I can tell my U. S. friends what we on this side of the pond, think about the Republican primaries. The US, despite all the dark sides that being a super power (be it colonialism, slavery or aggressive trade wars), brings with itself, has in the past 200 years drawn its prosperity to a great degree from upholding 'humanist', 'modernist' or 'western' values - things like secularism, democracy, freedom of speech, thought and religion; individual liberty, citizens' rights, fairness, accessibility of justice FOR ALL, equality of all humans; rule of law, common sense, ideals, but not ideologies; academic and scientific progress, innovations and entreprenial spirit. And most importantly the right to seek a good life or 'the pursuit of happiness'. Being Iranian, I can't help but add (leaning on the historian and Iranist, Prof Holland) that the US is not only the modern and democratic descendent of the Roman Empire and it's idea of FORZA ('I am because I can wield power!'), but also the child of the Persian Zoroasterian idea that an Empire should be a moral entity; that is, where Good can be installed by the super power. In order to do be a force of Good, you need reflection, self-reflection and the ability to look at yourself critically; you need to love yourself and yet be able to examine, criticise, change and make good your mistakes. In one word, to re-invent yourself without losing your 'original' self. Here again, my Iranian self pops up and reminds me of Rumi's tenet that every change or progress is only valuable if it takes you back to your true origins. The United States' ability to use the concept of change and progress as the main tool for upholding the humanist values upon which it founded itself, gave birth (and sustenance) to a culture, or what we call a 'soft power' that has in the past 75 years not been surpassed by any other Super Power - be it in the West or East or South or North. The prosperity of this country comes from that culture. Republicans, too, can modernise and re-invent their party by linking it back to what it was - a broad church where Conservatives and Liberals lived side by side to protect American interests. The US citizens understandably have a different viewpoint than the rest of the world citizens, for whom American elections and politics are domestic politics. The priorities of US citizens are in some points different than ours. I can only say that from where I am looking in Europe, #nikkihaley looks like a viable candidate.
Nikki Haley: “We’ve got a country to save. We can’t be focused on drama and chaos when we have to unite America.” Election Day (South Carolina) Saturday, February 24th, 2024 This day is vital to Nikki Haley's stay in the presidential race!
Much as I normally support both you and Saeideh Fard this one I say you are wrong. I orginally looked at supporting Nikki as a viable candidate. For background, I worked inside the Washington DC beltway for years. It is not as it appears from the outside. Unfortunately, all Nikki can bring the US is four more years of what is residing in the White House currently. There is zero leadership inside or outside the country with the current admin. Plus we in the US actually have zero idea who is pulling the puppets strings. I would love for there to be better choices but the problem is we simply have not put any forward. I also question why that is but in the mean time. My country has wide open borders, kids and women are being destroyed on our southern border. Rampant import of drugs and sex trafficking. We in the US need to do better.
Nikki is toast. She's merely a tool for the people who are causing our problems. She won't win, but if she could, she'd just continue the same problems without solutions (and get richer in the process). As for America being some kind of stabilizing force for the world, just look at our history and see how often we've thrown "allies" under the bus. Our republic has morphed into an oligarchy, and the vast majority of Americans don't realize it. Most countries ultimately look out for themselves, and it's time America quit meddling in other countries and focus on ourselves and clean up our own house. I'm for any American political leader who puts our interests first, and that's not Nikki.
Nikki Haley is the last hope for Americans as she’s younger than the current Trump who has lost the plot and in fairness to Biden he’s not fit to be in office and need to retire . America has to wake up and realise it can’t continue and it needs a new president that doesn’t come with baggage that the American people will pay for . It needs a new president to put America 🇺🇸 first and not there bank or personality . Nikki Haley is your only hope as the democrats seem to be totally reliant on Biden and they are totally not taking into account his age and clear and obvious Healy challenges .

It resonates deeply. I'm not voting in the US. But, like you, I do feel every person on the planet has a "horse" in this race because the US leadership does indeed impact the rest of the world greatly.
