LGBTQ+ Inclusive Wellbeing Being a LGBTQ+ member, inclusive wellbeing holds profound significance for me. This passion culminated in the development of our LGBTQ+ Insight Series: - Full info: https://lnkd.in/e9pSQZFX One aspect that has particularly driven me is the need to shed light on the often unheard and unseen LGBTQ+ domestic abuse experiences. It's disheartening to realise that up to 45% of LGBTQ+ individuals face unique societal and systemic barriers when seeking help for domestic abuse. Our aim is to create awareness around these barriers and offer tangible strategies for fostering inclusive safe spaces. We've developed a 30-40 minute digital course and a 1-hour talk centred on researched lived experiences. All geared towards empowering individuals and different types of organisations to support the LGBTQ+ community more inclusively. If you're interested, the digital course can be accessed below. Or if you'd like more information or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. https://lnkd.in/eTb8WQMM

Freelance early careers consultant specialising in LGBTQ+ inclusion and mental health/wellbeing in the workplace - currently looking for new clients and opportunities
I believe that allyship for the LGBTQ+ community can, and needs, to be much more effective. Today is International Allyship Day and I'd like take today as an opportunity to better understand which tools and resources LGBTQ+ allies feel are effective for their ongoing learning and understanding of the issues important to the LGBTQ+ community, and what barriers (experienced and perceived) they face as an LGBTQ+ ally which may be preventing them from being better allies. Responses from the survey will be used to create help bridge the gap that I perceive to exist between i) what the LGBTQ+ community needs from allies, and ii) what LGBTQ+ allies feel they need to support the LGBTQ+ community more effectively. Anyone who considers themselves to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community can complete this survey. This includes those who belong to the LGBTQ+ community themselves. Complete here https://lnkd.in/egq3e82W and please share in your personal and professional networks. Deadline Thursday 5th September. #IAD2023 #AllyshipInAction #Allyship

Proud to launch my Director of Public Health Report on the last day of LGBT history month about LGBTQ+ health in Croydon. From Question Marks to Understanding- Uncovering the Health and Wellbeing of Our LGBTQ+ community. A video accompanying my report showcases the lives of local people and allies in the LGBTQ+ community, with first-hand accounts of the impact of their experiences. https://lnkd.in/esNeumDq Limited data on the LGBTQ+ community makes it difficult to understand their health and wellbeing needs and the inequalities they face. LGBTQ+ people are more likely than others to feel isolated or lonely. Nationally, one in three LGBTQ+ young people experience mental health difficulties, compared to one in eight in the general population. One in seven LGBTQ+ people avoid treatment for fear of discrimination. There are three key things we can all do to support our LGBTQ+ community. These are to keep questioning our assumptions, actively support their visibility and promote their representation across all areas. #LBGT #publichealth

Happy Pride Month! 🌈 June is dedicated to celebrating the contributions and successes of the LGBTQ+ community and shine a spotlight on the progress that has been made towards equality. Visibility and representation are so important as historically LGBTQ+ stories and experiences have been overlooked. Whilst Pride is a celebration, it is also a chance for us to reflect on how we support LGBTQ+ individuals within society and the workplace, and ways in which we can promote an inclusive and diverse environment. This might be through engaging with LGBTQ+ Art, supporting LGBTQ+ owned businesses, or reflecting on how we can be more inclusive in our daily lives. In the professional sphere it is essential that companies have the appropriate policies in place to support LGBTQ+ colleagues and to prevent discrimination. This could range from encouraging employees to include their pronouns in email signatures, to ensuring that information regarding parental and adoption leave are readily available and that they consider a variety of family dynamics. 🏘 Pride Month gives us a dedicated space to talk about the LGBTQ+ community; however, it is important that these practices and conversations take place all year round.
