With the lull in loadshedding, solar equipment is readily available and prices are good. But this will not always be the case, so now is a good time for businesses to make the decision to install a solar energy system. Bifacial solar modules reach 50% market share LONGi Solar has released a new bifacial solar module, the Hi-MO X6 bifacial variant, with a module efficiency of 22.8%, nominally down from the 23.3% its initial Hybrid Passivated Back-Contact (HPBC) module, the Hi-MO 6 released in November 2022, boasts – but with bifaciality allowing the company to claim a “1%” advantage over the mainstream cutting edge TOPCon products of its rivals. The series is geared towards the rooftop segment, selling around 900 MW a month to the commercial segment and with the company’s HPBC production capacity set to reach 33 GW this year. While these cutting-edge product releases are worth looking at in their own right on occasion, this article will also take the opportunity to examine bifacial and double-glass modules (a subset of bifacial) in general. In 2019 bifacial modules had 14% market share, then 30% in 2020, and this year it will pass the 50% mark. By 2030 bifacial designs will have reached an around two-thirds predominance. #solar #renewables #energy

Recent data that's being shared across a number of industries continues to support the benefits of growth in the net zero economy. The increasing interest in installing renewable energy generation technologies such as solar panels is a positive shift, and the Future Buildings Standard currently under consultation could see as much as 70% of the roof space of all non-domestic buildings taken up with photovoltaics. The energy efficiency of a photovoltaic system depends on many factors, such as geographical location, slope, orientation, and weather. In general, a photovoltaic system in Greece produces about 1,200-1,650 kilowatt-hours per installed kilowatt (kWh/kWp) per year. This means that if you have a photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of, for example, 5 kilowatts, you can expect it to produce about 6,000-8,250 kilowatt-hours of energy per year.
