Reflecting today on the inspiring 'More Than a Village' conference yesterday and the learning shared from ten years of Blackpool Better Start, Sure Start and much more besides. Thanks so much to Clare Law and to everyone who contributed. One key message for me was the importance of trust and allowing for local difference within accountability and outcomes frameworks and not seeking a simple or over-simplified view of what success and impact could and should look like - striking a balance of consistency where it makes sense with local flexibility. I found Sally Hogg's points about seeking a realistic view of what works and what might be impactful really helpful - bringing the evidence that's available (with healthy questioning of its relevance, especially for minoritised and disadvantaged communities as we discussed last week at the Nesta and Foundations – What Works Centre for Children & Families event on parenting interventions), in particular the common elements of evidence-based practice and change at a systems level, together with the voices and testimonies of local individuals and communities to shape and create local solutions. Really looking forward to contributing to the next stage of the journey, as a member of the Expert Advisory Board and linking to the Common Outcomes for Children and Young People Collaborative.
🧡 Proud doesn’t come close! What an incredible day at our ‘More Than a Village’ conference with 945 early years friends! ⭐️ Huge thank you to Sir Peter Wanless Chris Cuthbert Dr Cheryll Adams CBE Hilary Kennedy CPsychol (HPC) AFBPsS Jean Gross Beckie Lang Paul Ramchandani Sally Hogg Leon Feinstein and Naomi Eisenstadt CB. What an absolute dream team! 👶🏼 It was such a privilege to be able to share, with so many, the difference our programme has made locally, telling the story of the impact on our babies, young children and parents in Blackpool. 🚀 And what a great time to share with others the scale of our ambition, using our local learning to scale and grow and support so many more. At the University of Notre Dame, community and global impact go hand in hand. 🌍 As President Rev. Robert A. Dowd, C.S.C said of the surrounding community, “We share a future.” Within the region — consisting of St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall counties — Notre Dame’s annual economic impact is $3.3 billion. Key initiatives, from cutting-edge research and discovery to athletics visitor spending, contribute to outcomes like that. But at the center of the metric lies integral partnerships with community leaders who believe in the same unifying goal: a safer, healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable world. Learn more about research impacts, downtown transformation, educational opportunities, and more in Notre Dame's 2024 Economic Impact Report: https://lnkd.in/gmYxGTTQ

https://lnkd.in/gNbBF3xj In the dawn of the 21st century, wielding the transformative power of technology, science, and engineering, and armed with innovation as our compass, this is the generation that will be driven by a collective vision for a brighter future. As changemakers of our time, they will harness the boundless potential of these tools to shape a world where possibility knows no bounds, where challenges are met with unwavering resolve, and where the only constant is our relentless pursuit of progress and improving humanity. As educators, lets continue to integrate technology into our courses, academic and workforce programs, because the world needs us to leave that legacy for the future. You can lead from your classroom, you can impact the future, by teaching them the tools they will use to make the world better. Start now. This generation will achieve peace.

What an intense 3 days spent with the Newton cohort!! Lots of conversations, incredible learnings, and reconnecting with colleagues turned friends. The sessions on Value Creation by Christian Rangen & Tiffany Bain, and Principles of Influence by Niro Sivanathan were very thought-provoking. Followed by the board room simulation where we saw how influence plays out in real-time in board meetings and its impact on decision-making. Left that exercise with more questions than answers but that's where the learning happens (I hope😄). Look forward to digging into the reading materials further, and excited for Module 3!! #NVPxLBS03
🙌 That's a wrap for Module 2 for our NVPxLBS03 Fellowship cohort! A huge thank you to all involved 🙏 We can't believe the next time we'll be together is when we'll see...the Fellows Visions! 🔮 😱 Until then, here's what we've been up to for the past 3 days 🚀

Do investments in early STEM education pay-off? For my kid's generation, they often do. Millicent attended a STEM-focused public elementary school learning the interdisciplinary benefits of math and science, eventually leading to post-bac studies seeking to understand how certain plant species survive. We need to continue public school STEM education investments and offer opportunities and tools for early-career scientists to help drive deeper scientific insights and as in Millicent's example, help better understand how some plant species survive and thrive. #datascience #stem #education #womeninscience ##britishecologicalsociety
Honored and excited to present the preliminary results of my ongoing work — Distribution of Naturalized Alien Plant Functional Traits Across Europe — at the annual British Ecological Society meeting. It has been a pleasure to meet, connect, and learn from so many incredible scientists. Thank you to NSF, RampUp, and especially the Fristoe lab at UPR for supporting my journey here!
