🌟 #SurpriseAndDelightSunday 🌟 Last night, I had the pleasure of bartending for a private 50th birthday celebration at our hotel. The event was intimate, attended by a small group of the guest’s closest friends. As I was serving, I overheard a conversation about the specific whisky he was enjoying—Angel’s Envy. It was clear that our guest of honor was a true whisky enthusiast. Knowing how special this milestone birthday is, I wanted to add a personal touch to the celebration. Earlier in the evening, I had gathered our kitchen, management, and FOH team members to sign a birthday card filled with warm and kind notes for the guest. As the night progressed, I remembered a bottle of special Nikka Japanese whisky I had in storage from a past cocktail competition—it’s one of my favorites. The shared elements of sweetness and fruitiness make this Nikka a natural progression for someone who appreciates the balanced flavors in Angel’s Envy but is looking for something with more intensity and complexity. I knew he would appreciate the nuances of the Nikka as much as he did the Angel’s Envy. To make our guest’s birthday even more memorable, I poured a dram of the Nikka into a small glass bottle, labeled it, wrapped it in paper, and placed it in a Conrad LA bag alongside the heartfelt birthday card. When I presented the guest with the bag, card, and small bottle of whisky, he was completely blown away by the attention to detail and the thoughtfulness shown in such a short time. While we may not be as close to our guests as their friends and family, in that moment, we are part of their experience. It’s our responsibility to help make these special moments truly unforgettable. We may only have a brief opportunity to connect with our guests, but those moments can have an impact that lasts a lifetime. Cheers to making every moment count and filling the world with the light and warmth of hospitality. 🌟🥃 #StayInspired #Hospitality #CustomerExperience #ConradLA #SurpriseAndDelight #TravelMemories #WhiskyLovers #Bartending #Mixology

🙌🏻 Collaboration drives innovation… check out this amazing innovative experience on Royal Caribbean International’s upcoming ship, Utopia of the Seas. ⚓️ It’s also a beautiful combination of unrelated concepts - which is a principle called associative thinking (a key trait of innovators). 💡I teach HOW to do this in my workshop called Think Like an Innovator: Master Associative Thinking (which I shared at SXSW this year!) This is dining + theatre + ride + cruising in a VERY innovative way. Check out the video to see more! I totally want to experience this in person. 🥳 Who will YOU collaborate with to innovate better? What unrelated concepts can YOU put together to innovate? #innovation #creativity #collaboration #productivity
Are you telling me you built a time machine out of a train car on a cruise ship?! That's right! Royal Railway, the dinner-time machine, is set to launch on Utopia of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's newest ship, in just a few short weeks. This wild ride was made possible by the unstoppable Mary Reilly. Reunited at last! Whoa! Look at 'er roll! Now we can watch the Wild West while we eat! (Last BTTF reference, I promise.) Leading the creative direction has been an amazing experience as we've crafted the most immersive dining adventure at sea. This new, original story features fantastic characters and thoughtfully crafted details over five delicious courses, starting with an Amoo Cow-bouche. ;) And the best part? It's 90 minutes of non-stop fun for the whole family, with maybe a few unexpected passengers. Thank you to everyone at Royal Caribbean for having me on this adventure, especially Jay Schneider, Monica Cordera, Andrew Trabosh, Linken D'Souza , CFBE, MBA, and the entire F&B team. I can't wait to see where this train goes next! Special shoutout to the Royal Railway crew for showcasing your talents in the Wild West: Kyle Selig, Christopher Lane, Gladys Ramirez, Ann Closs-Farley, Suzanne Bultmeyer, Bowen Jiang, Media.Monks, SOREN WEST, and VIVA LA PUPPET, LLC for bringing old Gum-slinger to life! Curious about what went on behind the scenes of our Royal Railway creation? Check out some exclusive footage to glimpse the creative process, dedication, and fun that went into making this unique dining experience a reality. https://lnkd.in/gJZFzpQZ

Do you know that the knowledge of making a Caesar salad at the table has become quite rare, with 9 out of 10 people in any restaurant not knowing how to do it. This indicates a significant decline in this particular skill among restaurant staff, which is a missed opportunity for creating a unique dining experience. In one restaurant I was doing training I suggestion to incorporate table-side Caesar salad preparation on a weekly or monthly basis clearly had a significant positive impact on the restaurant. Training the waiters to perform this engaging task not only increased sales but also captured customer interest effectively.

Feedback is important If negative, we share it internally to understand what happened, and if there is something we need to change or do differently to make things better in the future ✍️ The positive feedback is shared internally and externally! It is important to celebrate when our guests are happy about their experience because everybody in the team is important: from the initial contact by the sales team, the information, and the places and people that receive the guests whether being the transfer, hotel, restaurant, guide, driver, etc. Everybody has an important role in the experience chain🔗 #CascadaTravel #VisitChile

https://lnkd.in/eQbjJwb9 Guests at theme parks and attractions around the world visit these immersive venues for a wide range of experiences and while most don't immediately think of food as a specific draw, fans everywhere certainly have their favorites. The attached feature has a subjective short list of what they're considering to be the "best theme park food" in amusement parks and theme parks in the U.S.A. I certainly agree with a few of their selections though wonder how they'd react to the amazing food experiences found at many theme park destinations abroad- which include some dining experiences awarded Michelin Stars- as well as at on-site theme park resorts. Considering how many theme park resorts feature on-site dining, shopping and entertainment districts as well as multiple resort dining experiences, there's plenty more possibilities for this "menu." I know I'm available if they need any volunteer taste testers.....:)
