As a parent, you always hope to see your children grow into individuals who make a positive difference. Seeing Arden recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards is, of course, a proud moment. But what’s even more fulfilling is watching the impact of his nonprofit, Sports4Kids-CA, unfold. For two years, he’s worked tirelessly to bring sports opportunities to kids who might not otherwise have access. 🏀⚽ Just yesterday, I stopped by one of his sessions at a local elementary school. Watching 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders—whom don’t have regular PE classes in their schools—get their only physical activity for the week was both heartwarming and eye-opening. It’s easy to overlook how something as simple as a weekly soccer or basketball session can make a difference, but the science backs it up. 📊 According to a study published (https://lnkd.in/g2FymJ3H ) in PLOS ONE (with over 11,000 children aged 9-13), participation in team sports leads to: 🔵 10% lower anxiety and depression scores 🔵 19% lower withdrawal and depression scores 🔵 17% lower social problems 🔵 12% fewer attention problems 🔵 20% fewer instances of rule-breaking behavior In a world where mental health challenges are rising at an alarming rate, especially among youth, providing access to sports may seem like a small thing. But over time, these small, consistent efforts can change lives—physically, mentally, and emotionally. 🌱 What might start as just a game can evolve into something much more: a foundation for resilience, confidence, and long-term well-being. When you consider the percentages from the study—those 10%, 20% reductions in mental health challenges—applied across schools, communities, and generations, the potential impact is enormous. These small actions, when repeated over time, can accumulate and create lifelong benefits for children and, ultimately, healthier, stronger communities. 💪 Thank you to everyone who has supported Arden—and to all who work tirelessly to make a difference in young lives. 🙏 #Sports4MentalHealth #PhysicalEducation #PhysicalHealth
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been recognized as the Volunteer of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Awards. Volunteering has always been a passion of mine, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to give back to our community through initiatives that support and uplift others. A big thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way, especially the incredible teams and organizations I’ve had the privilege to work with. This award isn’t just a personal achievement—it’s a reflection of the collective effort and dedication of everyone involved. Special thanks to Drew Moser, Greg Anglea, Serhat Pala, and Zeynep Ilgaz. Excited to keep making a positive impact!

February wraps up, feeling like a year's end in just two months! How's your 2024 so far? Any lessons shaping your path ahead? This month brought valuable experiences: 1. Volunteering at a FairPrice outlet during CNY work highlighted the importance of every cent. What seems small to some is substantial to others. 2. Respect is earned. CNY volunteering witnessed customers handing food to our frontliners, showing that kindness matters more than material things. 3. At a community event, the majority assumed one choice was wisest, but a thoughtful minority's alternative proved best—a reminder to be mindful of choices. March awaits with these insights. In the words of Winston Churchill, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." 🚀 #FebruaryReflections #LifeLessons #WisdomThursday #GrowthMindset

As an ethical, community minded and people first business, Community Matters Partnership (CMP) has been a great partnership for our business. Simon says it all in this video - but this is our experience... It is a simple cost versus value equation for us. The cost: 1. A relatively modest financial contribution annually. 2. Structuring the workplace to allow staff to take the time to give back. The value: 1. The sense of well being that comes from volunteering, whether that is spending the day working in a valued local resource like a community garden - or a day at the beach doing our bit for reducing micro-plastics. 2. Team building. On our last corporate volunteering day we had members of our management team working along side people doing work experience and newer team members too. A great opportunity to get our hands dirty and chat on a different level than is always possible in the workplace. 3. Meeting fantastic like minded businesses and people. People make the world go round. Through CMP we not only work along side some of our suppliers and customers (UK Connect Ltd and Signwrite Studios Ltd to name just two) but have also met people and great companies like Rob Molloy of ally and mo media. 4. CMP enables us to easily provide our teams the opportunity to get involved in local projects without us having to do all the planning and arranging. They take all the stress out, do the organising, risk assessments and even provide the tea and biscuits! This negates the time and cost involved of us organising this in house. 5. In addition to volunteering opportunities, CMP also organise some great events - such as the annual quiz night and Runway Challenge. 6. Marketing value - we go out and do something good - we also get to talk about it and the amazing other businesses involved with CMP 7. It makes Cre8tive Space a better place to work and helps us to attract like minded people to join our growing business. value 7 - cost 2! The team at CMP really do make our #CSR programme easier to manage, which makes providing our team with 4 paid volunteering days a year a piece of cake! Thanks to all at CMP for all you do for our business and people! Simon Jarvis Anthea Rastall Rachel Austen and all the team! #volunteering #peoplefirst
In this video, our very own Simon Jarvis shares his insights on corporate volunteering 📢, delving into what it entails 🔍, exploring its significant impact on communities 🌍, and highlighting the numerous benefits of partnering with CMP for these initiatives 💼✨.
