Sharing this article I found with my broader network, since it could be helpful to more than just those who participate in the TeachedUp Career Expo. A little history on the Expo? I created it because I saw there was a great need among #educators to spread their wings #outoftheclass. They are all seeking to be a #transitionedteacher -- and are planning their #Edxit. I really would start a career expo in reverse, if there was a demand. Unfortunately, there are a number of barriers to hosting a successful expo aimed at drawing in educators -- not the least of which is the fact that the LinkedIn recruitment activity is far outpaced by the actual need recruiters are facing (meaning...if you didn't follow that...recruiters are underutilizing the potential to draw in local or even willing-to-move employees (if the States are willing to work with emergency certs while reciprocity is worked out)). So for now, I'll just do my part to bring support, happiness, and success to those who are moving out.
Here's an article that "found me" and stood out as potentially useful to everyone who's part of the TeachedUp Career Expo: https://lnkd.in/eVk_zDG9 (If you want to just see the letter he wrote, scroll down - it's in a screenshot).

We’re thrilled to share the highlights from our recent Alumni Spotlight at GBM 1 featuring Ploypailin Ellifritt, a Supply Chain Leader at PepsiCo and a proud SASE (Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers) alum. Ploypailin, who was deeply involved with the UF chapter during her time here, returned to offer her valuable insights on navigating our Career Showcase. One of Ploypailin’s standout pieces of advice was the importance of being interesting. Here’s how you can make a memorable impression on recruiters: 🔹 Showcase Your Passion: Let your enthusiasm for the role and the industry shine through. Recruiters remember candidates who are genuinely excited and engaged. 🔹 Highlight Unique Experiences: Share distinctive aspects of your background or skills that set you apart from others. 🔹 Engage in Meaningful Conversations: Move beyond the basics. Engage recruiters with thoughtful questions and discussions that reflect your genuine interest in their company. Ploypailin also shared her impressive career journey, including securing two internships at PepsiCo before joining the company full-time, where she has been thriving for a year and a half. Her story is a testament to the impact of strategic internships and active involvement in professional organizations like SASE. A heartfelt thank you to Ploypailin Ellifritt for her time, wisdom, and continued support. Your insights and dedication are truly inspiring and will undoubtedly help our students make a memorable impact at their next career fair! 🌟👏

During a period of idleness at home, I found myself waiting passively for time to shape my future. To stay engaged and enhance my skills, I signed up for various online courses. However, my lack of commitment often hindered my progress—until I discovered ALX. Unlike other online platforms, ALX offers a unique experience by creating a community that ensures accountability. With weekly reminders via text or email, ALX provides what I call "commitment on the go." Regardless of personal circumstances, you are consistently encouraged to meet milestones before deadlines. The support and opportunities within the ALX community are remarkable. Being part of this network not only motivates you but also opens doors to new possibilities. For instance, I completed a project involving AI-generated music, trained models that deepened my interest in data labeling and annotation, and worked on a data visualization project that inspired me to pursue data analysis and data science. I've also discovered valuable AI tools that I cherish. Another highlight was the inaugural #ALX career fair at the East Legon Community Hub. It was an insightful and enjoyable event with representatives from sixteen companies. I greatly appreciated their friendliness and the chance to interact with them. Here are some key takeaways from my ALX experience: 1. **Think Globally:** While local perspectives are valuable, aiming for a broader view can lead to greater opportunities. 2. **Embrace New Opportunities:** When one door closes, many others may open. This insight was inspired by ALX founder Fred Swaniker’s story and the experiences of other panelists. 3. **Trust in Entrepreneurship:** The hardest part of entrepreneurship isn't securing funding but building trust with people. 4. **Follow Your Passion:** Identify what truly drives you, even if it keeps you up at night—that’s often where your calling lies. 5. **Make Sacrifices:** Pursuing your dreams requires sacrifice. 6. **Work-Life Integration:** Rather than striving for a perfect balance, focus on integrating work and life in a way that works for you. 7. **Socialize:** Building connections is crucial, so make an effort to socialize when you can. 8. **Maximize Your Potential:** Always give your best effort, as someone may be watching and your next breakthrough could come from unexpected places. 9. **Seize the Moment:** Trust your instincts and embrace opportunities; they might lead to significant outcomes. 10. **Prepare for the Future:** Current challenges may be setting you up for future success. 11. **Uphold Integrity:** No matter the circumstances, maintain your integrity and imagination, and never compromise your values. Thank you to #ALXAfrica, #ALXGhana, and Fred Swaniker for this transformative journey. I have AICED it! #dohardthings #Aice2024 #AiceC5 #alxaice

Diversity in the workplace fuels innovation, leading to better performances across the board. As mentioned in McKinsey's Diversity Matters Even More 2023 report, companies that employ greater diversity on their boards of directors are (on average) 9% more likely to experience above-average profitability. Meanwhile, those that don't are 66% less likely to do so. Come along to Inclusive Careers Fair 2024 on 22nd June at WeWork, 21 Collyer Quay to learn more about how diversity, equity and inclusion policies are impacting the business landscape. Yes. Yes. I have become slightly obsessed with the NFL post Taylor & Kelce (but I am not the only one). However, working in Indian Sport for the last 15 years (Yes, and do not age me!) has exposed me to the Business side of the NFL. Sports Newsletters and American Websites have provided more and a lot more insight about the NFL - and it has been a fascinating learning experience that has been so awe inspiring. I want to know more and I want to see more because they are doing it so so well. This is just one of the examples of what they are getting right - building a platform to give their athletes a future to look forward to with dignity and respect. The professional athlete brings a lot to the boardroom table! What else could you expect from a Human Being who chases one goal constantly for years! They have built themselves to be focused, disciplined and so so resilient and they would be the perfect team player! Spaces for this are so essential for the Indian Athlete as well and I wish we could find a way to give them more than a 'coaches' job, or the 'Railways posting'. So much to learn and so much to think about what we can do and should be doing. Sport is collaborative and competitive - which is why it makes it so easy to want to learn from each other. (Also, welcome to the Chief's Kingdom. :))
Last Friday, the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) celebrated Super Bowl LVIII by hosting their 6th Annual Super Bowl Career Fair – providing NFL Legends with the opportunity to explore careers with 40 employers, update their professional headshots, and experience executive-led career panels from Visa, EA SPORTS, Fanatics, and Microsoft.
