That’s a wrap for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 53rd Legislative Conference. Whenever you think you’ve seen the highest heights, it’s time to leave your environment. What you’ll find is there’s always another level. Entering into this space where policy is being designed, systems are being reimagined, and lives of Americans are being changed is an example of that other level. There’s tons of work to do in Dallas, so it was important to learn how the people at the highest level are pioneering change so that I can bring it back. This next phase will be historic. #ALC53 #CBCF #CongressionalBlackCaucus

Retired Surgeon | Chair Tri Delta Foundation Board of Trustees | Women's Empowerment | Life Sciences | Committed to transforming national healthcare delivery to ensure quality, accessible, affordable care for all
Advocating for freedom of association is crucial, especially for organizations like Greek life, which often provide valuable opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community service on college campuses. Greek organizations not only offer a sense of belonging and camaraderie but also foster leadership skills, philanthropic endeavors, and academic support systems. These groups contribute positively to campus culture by promoting inclusivity, diversity, and a strong sense of community. By participating in initiatives like the First Amendment Institute, members of organizations like Tri Delta gain a deeper understanding of their rights and responsibilities as advocates for their organizations and the broader community. This knowledge empowers them to effectively engage in dialogue, promote positive change, and uphold the values of freedom and association. Ultimately, recognizing the value of Greek life and supporting initiatives that empower its members to advocate for their rights ensures that these organizations continue to enrich campus life and contribute positively to society.
Last week, Tri Delta sent three collegiate members, Libby Lester, Texas, Katarina Betris, Jacksonville, and Alexandra Hofmaister, Oregon State, to the First Amendment Institute (FAI) to learn how to advocate for freedom of association on their campuses. Alexandra shared, "I loved my experience and the opportunity to learn more about the impact of our voices on campus, especially as leaders of powerful organizations such as Greek life. My greatest takeaways from this conference were about fair application and ensuring that all actions you take and precedents you make are applied equally within our chapters and on our campuses."

Philanthropic Services & Operations Manager at RSF Social Finance; Board Member at United Nations Association, San Francisco Chapter; Field Hockey Coach
I appreciate this excerpt: “So all of my knowledge around finance came from the mentality of “it’s all about profit and if you manage to maximize profit, everything else takes care of itself.” In my time working with RSF I got a greater appreciation of a different way of thinking about how profit coexists with the mission.” Proud to work for an organization that is so mission-driven! #socialfinance #impactinvesting #missiondriven

Good morning from sunny, bright, currently 6 degrees above the average daily high, Sauna Summer Bahrain. Today is Wednesday 14 August 2024. What better way to start the day than with Andrei. When you hear that the German government is going to start lauding fallen SS and Nazi Party leaders from WWII as the embodiment of military ideals for the current military to aspire to you understand why voicing peaceful disagreement especially founded on facts based reality to the government that falls within protected freedom of speech carries imprisonment. You understand why the UKG and USG, amongst others, also want to censor freedom of speech contrary to the government’s statements. Israel shows us where this leads today for those adverse to history, learning lessons from history or silo it away as irrelevant to today. Seriously, I am wondering where in the West can one get a good, classical/old world substantive, education? Our educational system may be excellent in neoliberal and neoconservative principles and discourse. But what if these principles are both wrong and incomplete substantively? Where does one go for a good education? https://lnkd.in/dhbk7T3F
