🌍 The ecological commons—community forests, pasture lands, and water bodies—constitute a quarter of India's landmass and are vital to over 350 million rural people. Despite increasing commitments to climate action, landscape restoration, and rural livelihoods, these precious resources are degrading at an alarming rate of 4% annually. To address this, we are fostering a system-wide collaborative infrastructure that connects, convenes, and aligns diverse stakeholders for cohesive action. By finding 'common ground,' even without full consensus, we are working towards a sustainable future. The Common Ground Initiative is evolving through the efforts of Asar and 21 partner organizations, with the backing of Living Landscapes, which brings decades of collective experience in building and empowering networks. Let's unite for a resilient future! 🌱 #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EcologicalRestoration #RuralDevelopment #CollaborativeLeadership #EnvironmentalProtection #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityEmpowerment #LivingLandscapes Watch this video to know more https://lnkd.in/gXv4gqyq

"Build back better", does that ring a bell? A term frequently used during the pandemic while looking forward, envisioning the world after Covid. A chance for a restart. But what happended? A question I have asked myself many times since and so did Dr Kumi Naidoo in this webinar the Great Unraveling organised by The Post Carbon Institute that i accidentally attended thanks to a post by Anna Pollock. Thank you for that! I am constantly on the search for more knowledge, inspiration and insights on the subject of sustainability, - and some days I must admit I am struggling to keep my fighting spirit going - so when i read the opening phrase in the invitation to the webinar it talked strait to me: "Have you been feeling a sense of unease about the state of the world? From climate change and biodiversity loss to social inequality and overconsumption, it seems like multiple crises are converging at once. What’s really going on here?" It was truly enlightening and inspiring to listen to Kimi Naidoo and Lyla June Johnston sharing their storys and experiences on how to act in order to fix this. So many wise words were spoken and I highly recommend you to look at the recording. I specially take with me what Kumi said: ”Be creatively maladjusted!” Because we can not fix this within the same system that got us here. Kimi said something else that I also often say: It is not about saving and protecting the planet. She will be just fine without us humans. It is about our own survival, our chances to continue to thrive on this planet, and for generations to come. We need to understand that we are part of an ecosystem, depending on its health. We do not stand above any other species, rather that we are a part of an ecosystem, and dependent on its function. Nature with all its species is my best friend. Ours. Hopefully yours as well. So how about we once and for all take the term #buildbackbetter seriously? Let’s start to show nature some love! #regenerativetravel #sustainabletourism #reformtravel https://lnkd.in/d6vT5Z5N

𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗨𝗠 𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗪𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧 𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗘𝗟 🌊 Yesterday was an insightful day at the panel discussion where Ruben Eiras, Secretary-General of Fórum Oceano, brought his expertise to the forefront. 🌊 The discourse centered around a critical theme: leveraging technology and science to propel sustainable practices within ocean-based industries. It's heartening to witness leaders like Ruben Eiras championing initiatives aimed at mitigating the adverse effects on ocean health. Throughout the discussion, speakers explored innovative strategies to encourage cross-industry collaboration, emphasizing the importance of leveraging collective wisdom and resources. It's clear that the path to sustainable ocean management necessitates a united front, where stakeholders learn from each other's successes and failures. Together, let's forge partnerships, share knowledge, and embrace innovation as we navigate the complex waters of ocean conservation. 🌊

In the grand theatre of existence, our environment is the stage upon which the drama of life unfolds. Imagine trying to perform without a stage, without the essential backdrop that makes every act possible. This is the environment – the foundational canvas of our prosperity and survival. Prosperity is not just wealth but the flourishing of life in all its forms. It’s the rivers that sing, the forests that breathe, and the skies that embrace us. Without the environment, this symphony of prosperity falls silent, leaving us in a void where growth and life can no longer thrive. The environment is not just a part of life; it is the essence that breathes life into our dreams and aspirations. It is the soil that nurtures us, the air that fills our lungs, and the water that quenches our thirst. Imagining life without the environment is like imagining a story without words – it simply cannot exist. Our priorities must align with this truth. Before we chase after progress and success, we must ensure that our environment is cared for and protected. It is the bedrock of all our endeavours, the silent supporter of every step we take. On this World Environment Day, let’s renew our commitment to making the environment our foremost priority. Let’s celebrate the green guardians that stand tall, the oceans that cradle life, and the skies that shelter us. Let’s pledge to nurture and protect our planet, for it is the home of our prosperity and the cradle of our existence. May our actions today sow seeds of sustainability for generations to come.
