We would like to say thank you to Fleet Feet West Hartford for donating Oofoos sandals to our community, that we will be donating to members at our upcoming 5 Year Celebration! Oofoos are excellent when it pertains to recovery, given the fact that they provide the following benefits: Arch support, which is important because it helps both posture and foot problems such as plantar fasciitis. Additionally, OOFOS shoes reduce joint pain in the ankles, knees, and hips by absorbing up to 37% more shock than other footwear. In a bid to help parents and carers in Norwich save on the expense of school uniform and prevent clothing that is in wearable condition going to waste, Castle Quarter have launched a preloved school uniform collection point. and are asking for donations. During the summer, they will host a pop-up event for a school uniform swap shop, where parents and carers can pick up good quality items of clothing, for free, ready for the new school term to begin. Castle Quarter is asking people to donate blazers, cardigans, jumpers PE kits, polo shirts, shorts, shoes, skirts and trousers. Items can be plain or branded, and in any colour. They must be washed and in good, wearable condition, with all name tags removed if possible. #recycle #reuse #donate #uniform

10 YEARS AGO!!! Who remembers this? The ICE BUCKET challenge. A fad that created a lot of noise, huge commitment to ALS #charities and a lot of cold bodies. Did you do it? I was thinking about fad or short terms trends. Big impact. Short term. They don’t always align with your goals, but you join anyway. We set up Wolf Eyewear to be different to this. To have #corevalues that last longer. To add value. To bring brilliance. COLOUR. FUN. This is always why we wanted WHITE OPTICS LIMITED to be part of the #wolfpack. They have been very close to these values for 50 years! Understanding customers on a closer level, what they want to achieve and how a supplier can support them. This is why we will be here for the long term, not just a fad. #wolfpack #growthmindset #familybusiness #eyewear #customerjourney #focussed #charity #eyewearfashion #eyecare #independentopticians

One of the great things about working for IFS is they support our passions and allow us a CSR day. A few weeks ago I was able to spend my CSR day with at the UK headquarters of a small charity called Sharewear. I'll also be running the Landmarks Half Marathon to support the vital work of this charity on Sunday 7th April. If you'd like to sponsor me, you can do so at https://lnkd.in/e3nZZs4T Their primary aim to is provide clothing for people in an emergency and for people in clothing poverty. Whilst with them I selected clothes for a man referred by The Salvation Army in desperate need of some basic items. As donations of men's clothing is much rarer than women's clothing, this was far from straight forward. I also selected some clothes, including clothes suitable for an interview, for a young mother living in a women's refuge. Getting suitable shoes in the right size was also quite a challenge. I also spent time processing donations. I weighed bags so they can report on the volume of donations receved and spent quite a lot of time just sorting and grading clothes. Those suitable for use need to be sorted into types and sizes so they can be offered to their clients. One of the biggest learns for me was what happens to those not suitable for donation and one of the things that makes Sharewear unique. They sell their "rags" to a company that further grades them into items for resell and items that can be recycle, like a company making building materials using polyester clothing. That's in contrast to other clothing collection schemes that will essentially fill a shipping container that will either be sold in some african markets (flooding the market) or sent straight to landfill/thrown in the sea if a buyer can't be found for the container.

Items we have the greatest difficulty getting for clients include men’s clothing of all types, larger sizes of women’s clothing, and shoes in good condition for both men and women. Our clients need clothing for all kinds of activities including work, casual and dressy events, sports, and more. With the colder months approaching, there is a particular need for winter boots, coats, fleece jackets, gloves, hats, and scarves. If you are decluttering your closets this fall, please consider donating any winter items you may no longer need to benefit folks in our community. Your donation is most likely to go to a client if it is something you would proudly give to a friend or relative. Good donations are new or gently used, in complete working condition (with no missing buttons, broken zippers, and without tears, stains, or visible wear or damage). Donations should be free from strong odors like perfume, smoke, mothballs, or mustiness, and never wet. For additional information on what and how to donate, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/e5XfMzTP #secondchances #clothingdonation #clothingdrive #cambridgema #somervillema
