The DT Launch Pad project offers immense benefits for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and students. By identifying barriers and enablers, HEIs can focus resources on high-impact areas, strengthening research output. Providing state-of-the-art training and resources makes HEIs more attractive to students and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation. For students and early-stage researchers, WP2’s research will identify necessary skills and support structures. Comprehensive training programs will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, helping students turn ideas into successful start-ups. Connecting with industry experts and entrepreneurs will provide invaluable insights into Deep Tech commercialisation. Nice #HBR article on #universities as central figures in societal and environmental #innovation. No shocker, but always nice to remind oneself of the unique role that research institutions play in nudging interdisciplinary and diverse collaborations that would not happen if left to commercial interests alone. 1. Despite Europe's leadership in research, many groundbreaking technologies don't reach the market. DT Launch Pad, led by Delft University of Technology, has a goal to change that. This project supports the European Deep Tech community with comprehensive services, talent development, international knowledge exchange, and fostering start-ups. Currently, in Work Package 2, we're mapping research and assets to understand the needs of Deep Tech in Europe. This work lays the foundation for future activities, helping HEIs develop specialised training programs and bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills. 🔗Discover more in our newest blog post written by @Julia Bauer, @Inkubator accent: https://lnkd.in/eJPnQeg3 Munster Technological University , Institut Mines-Télécom Business School, Crazy Town Oy, Ege University, accent Inkubator GmbH, Momentum Educate + Innovate, Delft University of Technology University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN) , University of Ljubljana #DeepTech #Startup #Innovation #FutureTech #EuropeanDeepTechCommunity #Entrepreneur

Too many scientific discoveries are getting stuck within university walls. A recent study highlights that academic startups often struggle to bring their innovations to market. At NLC, we are committed to changing this. We recognize that while academic expertise is invaluable, transforming groundbreaking research into successful commercial ventures demands a collaborative approach. By working together with academics and knowledge transfer professionals, we combine entrepreneurial expertise with deep industry knowledge to help these innovations become impactful solutions for patients. 🚀🔗 When experts in technology transfer, founders, and investors get together to discuss how to facilitate successful technology transfer from academic research institutions to startups! 💡 Partners from technology transfer offices of Universität Heidelberg (#hei_INNOVATION, ScienceValue Heidelberg GmbH), DKFZ Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum and EMBL Enterprise Management Technology Transfer GmbH (#EMBLEM) as well as experienced founders, investors and ecosystem representatives (BioRN Life Science Cluster Rhine-Neckar and Heidelberg Startup Partners e.V.) met in Heidelberg to enter into a lively discussion on the challenges startups face when trying to secure access to Intellectual property owned by their research institution. Here's a quick rundown of some key takeaways: Agile Implementation: Speed is essential for success of startups. Thus, academic research institutions need to commit to an “enabling” culture by implementing standardized and digitalized administrative processes to enhance technology transfer efficiency. Showcasing Role Models: Embracing the lessons gained from both successes and failures there is a need to spotlight inspiring role models and amplify their visibility for aspiring entrepreneurs. Transparency and communication: Startups and technology transfer offices often describe contract negotiations with each other as a non-transparent process. Reconciled methods to evaluate the IP as a basis for constructive discussions and open communication can help. Let's continue to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship together! #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #Collaboration #technologytransfer #GermanCancerResearchCenter #heidelberg #heidelberguniversity #EuropeanMolecularBiologyLaboratory #technology #HeidelbergStartupPartners #investors #founders #startups #spinoffs #EMBL50 #EMBLEBI30 #EMBLEM25 EMBL #HSP #BioRN #DKFZ Thank you to everybody who joined the conversation!

It takes a village... …to turn scientific breakthroughs into real world solutions to planetary and societal challenges. 🌍 🌟 And that’s exactly what the ecosystem, that we at PreSeed Ventures are part of here at DTU, are capable of. It’s not our words but the ones of this new article in Harvard Business Review. They call out the orchestration of the #DTUecosystem to intervene and support at each stage of the journey from lab to commercialisation as an example for others to model in order to become a prime innovator in society. With 81 inventions commercialized, 74 new startups launched, and 1,173 research collaborations with outside companies alone in 2021 the numbers speak for themselves 🚀🦄 – And puts the DTU - Technical University of Denmark ecosystem in a league with universities like New York University. It goes without saying that it makes us proud to be part of building such a flourishing ecosystem with strong allies like DTU Science Park, DTU Entrepreneurship, DTU Skylab, DTU Tech Transfer and DTU Earthbound. We look forward to close yet another gap in the ecosystem with our upcoming #PSVDeepTech fund. 👋Let’s continue to make tech work for people Marianne Thellersen, Mikkel Sørensen, Anders Overgaard Bjarklev, Christel Piron, Niels Korsholm, Anders Kjær, Jakob Rybak-Andersen, Marianne Hyltoft, Steen Donner, Jes Broeng, Jakob Fritz Hansen, Christopher James Lüscher, Ph.D, Thomas Klem Andersen, Simon Ulvund, Mikkel Marfelt, PhD, Solvej Karlshøj Christiansen, Jesper Hart-Hansen, Alberte Schmidt Koefoed. #Togetherwecanpunchaboveourweight #PSV #PreSeedVentures #Future #Startups #Invest #Founders #Entrepreneurship #Tech #VC #Venturecapital
