EVs are increasingly popular. Below is an article about an electric vehicle drag racer. Entering the world of racing at any level will spark even more interest in EVs and their performance capabilities. Simply put, they are here to stay. But like data centers, and other high consumers of electricity, EVs place increased demand on the grid which is aging and underequipped for that demand. The challenges this creates for the grid also creates opportunities. The growth potential for infrastructure contractors working in the energy sector is only limited by their capacity to clearly understand the challenges, and provide solutions and services to overcome those challenges in a timely manner.

Battery fires don't discriminate. I see battery fires happening in all types of industry markets and end-use applications. Mitigating the consequences of a battery fire can't just stop at the vehicle. The environment where the EV or any battery powered technology needs to be considered as well. Thoughts go out to the Penske team, the injured person and their family. #electricvehicles #fireprotection #batterysafety https://lnkd.in/gNX_9drX

The shift from Extreme E to Extreme H is all about a sh!t load of FOSSIL FUEL money. "We see Extreme H as an opportunity to help create a market. One of the major advantages is a lot of organizations are interested in growing and developing hydrogen, and we want to take them on the journey. We want to create an ecosystem here." For anyone who has been paying a modicum of attention has seen that hydrogen for light duty vehicles has been as successful as the Australian national ice hockey 🏒 team practicing outdoors in an Australian summer. Right now, electric vehicles outsell hydrogen vehicles by about 2000 to 1, with some markets recording annual sales in the single digits, yep less than 10. So a hydrogen powered race vehicle is a complete irrelevancy, just as the road vehicles are, which makes investing in such a series, as a move away from electric, a very strange move. Except if you're Aramco, the World's largest oil and gas company. Why? Because almost all hydrogen is made from from fossil fuels. aramco is the primary sponsor for Formula 1, a sponsorship likely measured in the billions of dollars. So, that matters to the FIA, which supports this series, even if hydrogen is completely irrelevant and increases carbon dioxide emissions. So, throwing a shed load of money at this race series using Saudi money has allowed them to attract well known companies and people get on board, per the superlative quotes in the article. The race vehicles might even vaguely work when money is not an object. However, whatever the money being thrown into this hydrogen race series entails, it is absolutely nothing compared to the amount of money needed to develop a network of hydrogen infrastructure to an acceptable level that can be used by drivers globally. Even Aramco bulks at that, and wants someone else to pay. And that's were this story will end: big fossil fuel money supporting a lost cause, promoted by some opportunistic promoters and supporters. What it most certainly isn't about is tackling climate change, in fact precisely the opposite. Do you agree that Extreme H is an irrelevant and cynical fossil fuels promotion? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks to James Morris #automotive #batteries #climatechange #electricvehicles #innovation #sustainability

If you're ready to buy a hybrid or all-electric used vehicle, Green Wave Electric Vehicles is my pick! Jesse Lore, M.B.A. is honest, educated, passionate about sustainability, and loves driving his EVs. If you're sticking with your current gas vehicle, do you know it's important to stop idling if you're waiting over 30 seconds? It's better for our health, our wallet, and the Earth. Take a look at this oldie but goodie from when I worked at the Mass. Department of Energy Resources. https://lnkd.in/eE4tZht5

We like the new scoring approach for the Newport Bermuda Race, which relies on the wind and current forecast at the start. The system is simple and relies on technologies that have become mainstream. It feels intuitive, is a natural extension of VPP rules, and still requires competitors to evaluate what course is theoretically fastest vs. what's actually about to happen on the course ahead of them. Best of all, competitors can know whether they are ahead or behind in real time.
