Coaching people-first leaders to thrive under pressure, grow resilient teams and build better workplaces. Proven neuroscience-based culture change for global firms. Resilience🔸Wellbeing🔸Inclusion🔸Workshops🔸Retreats
PLEASE DON'T #inspireinclusion today. 🚫🙅♀️❗🛑 Did you know that the internationalwomensday.com domain is a corporate-sponsored project whose digestible catchy slogans, merch, and hand gestures actually differ from (and dilute the impact of) the official UN Women’s theme - which this year, is "Invest in women: Accelerate progress". I have mixed emotions about IWD. I will be supporting multiple events this year (for the last three years I've just taken the day off) because on balance I think the support offered to women is positive. But I'm also really f*cking tired of the spectacle. The IWD corporate holiday isn't moving the dial on real issues, it feels more like it’s putting women on show, and beyond that, it’s often on women to organise the thing. Hands up women who have ended up with MORE to do today? So my leaders out there, how about we commit to actual change this year? Support women by investing in women - with fair pay, promotion, benefits, whole-health support, flexible work, updated policy, and funding for women-owned businesses. We don't need a celebration, we need action... and cash. I'll be taking these (super fun) views to the events I've chosen to join today based on my seeing their real support and action in the Bristol community and beyond: ➡️The Bristol Inclusion Hackathon with Ghyston and ISL Talent ➡️The Good Employement Charter IWD Event by the West of England Combined Authority ➡️Women in Property South West International Women's Day Panel What are you going to do? #iwd2024 #internationalwomensday #iwdbristol #genderequity #speakoutrevolution #womensday #realchange

International Women’s Day can be a time for many things; a moment of celebration for the hard-fought runs on the board, while also a focusing of the lens as to progress that is still to come. In considering this year’s IWD theme - Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress – we reflected on where we have contributed to investment and acceleration, and what that looks like for us, into the future. As an organisation, we swing the pendulum in favour of women – within our team of staff, our Board and amongst our participants. This can beg the question of what that means for women in community leadership, particularly in volunteer roles; on the one hand, it could mean that we’re asking more of women again. More time, more unpaid labour, more challenges to navigate in a world that has historically not been designed to benefit women. But on the other hand, it suggests that more women can access opportunities to increase their capacity, to sit at whatever table they’re interested in and have their voices and views heard, and they’re supported along the way to do so – juggling the competing priorities of time, effort and energy. That they’re being counted in, and they’re being invested in. Is there still more to be done? Yes, always. But at the heart of it, we’re really proud of the vast number of women involved in our organisation, and in the broader efforts of community-led initiatives across the region. That despite the hurdles, women keep treading well-worn pathways, and carving out new ones, too. Not only to benefit themselves, but for the many. And through every mechanism available to us, as an organisation we remain committed to providing these equitable and accessible opportunities well into the future.

Please give this a read and encourage your organisation to look into the actual Women’s Day theme painstakingly researched and created by the United Nations teams. Every year at Women’s Web we are asked by customers interested in working with us on IWD campaigns, what ideas we can suggest in line with the IWD theme of the year; and invariably we find that they’ve ignored the UN theme in favour of something else put out by this women’s day website which I have never been clear about who is promoting. It’s possible that the UN themes are more weighty, serious, require you to actually give inclusion of women in all spheres more thought, as opposed to something that just lends itself to a nice photo-op. But guess what? International Women’s Day isn’t mean to be a photo-op. It’s actually meant to be a time for serious reflection as well as practical action. So yes - do look into what this years theme means - it is Invest in Women and has many facets to it.

🚨🚨🚨🚨If you’re planning your International Women’s Day campaign, this one is a must read. The theme-jacking of the IWD theme has been going on for years and how UN describes it, is not how many corporate organisations play it out. Please read the article below and this year’s theme is NOT Inspire Inclusion! https://lnkd.in/g95pRu8p

🔊 🔊 🔊 FOR OUR NEW COMMUNITY MEMBERS: ... Introducing Our Flagship Initiative to you: Woman and The Society Sessions #WATS / #watsSessions Our Woman and The Society sessions #WATS serve as a cornerstone of our mission at WTAL. These sessions enable us to scrutinize the multifaceted challenges women face in society through a resolute female-specific lens. These sessions foster thought-provoking dialogues on the existential hurdles, opportunities, and triumphs encountered by women on their paths to success despite the odds. Providing a platform for seasoned women leaders from diverse industries, our sessions feature lectures, talks, debates, and discussions tackling social issues confronting women. We meticulously curate esteemed women speakers, representative of our society’s diversity, to lead these conversations. Our aim is to inspire women to listen, learn, and engage in discourse, facilitating a convergence of perspectives and opinions to drive initiatives aimed at improving the situation around the discussed themes. Additionally, we aspire to: a) Increase awareness of the spotlighted issues and instill/improve a sense of community involvement and responsibility. b) Create an additional platform for women to utilize their voices for societal development. The themes of all the conversations are derived from surveys collected within the female community. Every woman interested in being part of highlighting societal challenges and the dialogue towards change is encouraged to complete the surveys that guide the themes of our events. This initiative underscores WTAL’s commitment to community inclusivity and representation. We take pride in being socially driven, socially led, and socially resolved. We are halfway through the year and have yet to hit our 3,000-participant survey mark. Therefore, we invite you to complete our survey to ensure that #WATS continues to deliver value to and for all of us. By the end of 2024, we aim to be armed with ample information to plan another year of meaningful events. We are excited to hear from you and build on the catalog we are developing for next year. Please take our 2-minute survey here: https://lnkd.in/d6sjKSqe Our next event is coming up on the 24th of August. It’s International Women’s Day later this week which we celebrate at Cognia by taking a moment to reflect on our progress over the last year and set our sights even higher for the future. The UN’s theme this year is #InvestInWomen highlighting five key areas that call for collaborative action. We’ve championed four of those areas (more on that below) and this week we are keen to embrace the UN’s focus on shifting to a more caring, inclusive and green society. To bring this to life, we’re setting up Latté Listening Lounges ☕️ 🛋️ in both our London and Cape Town offices. It’s an opportunity for everyone, men included, to grab a brew with a cupcake 🧁 and share their stories, challenges or simply how their day is going. What are you plans for making International Women’s Day impactful this week and going forward? This awareness day, like others, gives us a chance to identify what’s working and renew our commitment to accelerating positive change. It would be great to hear how you are embracing the spirit of the day and to contribute to the momentum, here’s a glimpse of the initiatives we’ve embraced on all the United Nations areas of focus: 🌟 Investing in women: Continuing to maintain our strategic goal of at least 50% representation of women on our leadership team. This is one of many objectives we strive to meet as part of our commitment to build diverse teams that thrive. Actively contributing to The Inspiring Women Programme supported by Icertis and hosted by World Commerce & Contracting, which celebrates women who have made significant achievements in their field. ✊ Ending poverty: Regularly running initiatives to distribute period products across the UK and South Africa to help alleviate period poverty. 👏 Implementing gender-responsive financing: At Diversity Amplified (a community of senior female legal leaders we co-founded and hosted with WorldCC Foundation to spark conversations on inclusion and belonging), we featured gender-responsive procurement in May 2023, also a UN initiative, which links closely to gender-responsive financing, and we will include this specific aspect in our schedule of events. 👍 Shifting to a green economy and care society: Created the concept of Latté Listening Lounge to encourage everyone at Cognia to drop in for a chat as part of our commitment to a more compassionate workplace and society. 🚀 Supporting change-makers: Advocating female legal pioneers is in our DNA, for example, Janet (our CEO and Founder) collaborates closely with Sally Guyer, Charlotte Butterfield, Sandra Kilbourne, Stephanie Hanson and Sarah Davis. We prioritise helping future female talent achieve their career goals by running a career workshop for IkamvaYouth in October 2023 and collaborating with Black Lawyers Association Student Chapter throughout 2023 on a mentoring programme for students. You can find out more about the UN's initiatives in this area here https://lnkd.in/dpEhsgx

Championing the #inclusivity in #shorttermrental industry - #iwd2024 - check out this article ⬇️
On #internationalwomensday2024, we present two incredible female ambassadors for the #shorttermrental sector who need little introduction but who are making great strides to make the industry more inclusive and to support female leaders in wider business circles. Fiona Campbell, chief executive of the Association of Scotland's Self-Caterers, and Sally Henry, vice president of business development EMEA at Key Data, are set to launch a new initiative called #WomenCelebratingWomen and spoke about the launch and what it will entail at this week's Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA) European Conference in #Paris. A big thank you to Fiona and Sally for speaking so honestly and candidly [with a healthy dose of humour thrown in too] about their experiences and motivations for introducing this initiative, and about creating a safe space for women to share their own experiences. A must-watch interview! ShortTermRentalz International Hospitality Media Limited #womencelebratingwomen #iwd2024 #shorttermrentals #vacationrentals
