Each of the four #CubeSat 6U #satellites that Sateliot will launch in July 2024 represents an investment of half a million euros. They measure 20 x 10 x 35 centimeters, roughly the size of a microwave, and weigh 10 kilograms. They will orbit at about 600 kilometers altitude and have a lifespan of over five years. Their technology, which will provide #connectivity to more than eight #million #devices already #subscribed to the #service, is democratic and accessible, open to various use cases for SMEs, public administrations, and large companies. According to Jaume Sanpera 🛰, CEO and co-founder of Sateliot, "With this launch, the company enters a new dimension that will allow Spain to lead #IoT #connectivity on a global scale." Sateliot is the first #LEO #satellite #constellation based on the #5G standard, allowing unmodified commercial cellular NB-IoT NTN devices to connect from space. It is the first time in history that #terrestrial cellular #telecommunications seamlessly #merge with #satellite #connectivity, and Sateliot is leading this revolution. Sateliot's cost-effective technology and the ability to use low-cost commercial devices to connect to satellites opens up endless possibilities in the untapped market of massive #IoT in remote areas. Sateliot's mission has a global impact: to make #IoT #connectivity available everywhere and for everyone. The company was founded in 2018, and it has already built up a sales pipeline of more than €1 billion on companies with a diversified range of use cases and geographies. It was founded by a group of seasoned entrepreneurs with extensive telecom and satellite technology experience. https://lnkd.in/dFwDypvB

A recent Bluetooth connection between a device on Earth and a satellite in orbit signals a potential new space race—this time, for global location-tracking networks. Seattle-based startup Hubble Network announced that it had a letter of understanding with San Francisco-based startup Life360 to develop a global, satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) tracking system. The announcement follows on the heels of a 29 April announcement from Hubble Network that it had established the first Bluetooth connection between a device on Earth and a satellite. The pair of announcements sets the stage for an IoT tracking system that aims to rival Apple’s AirTags, Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag2, and the Cube GPS Tracker. Bluetooth, the wireless technology that connects home speakers and earbuds to phones, typically traverses meters, not hundreds of kilometers (520 km, in the case of Hubble Network’s two orbiting satellites). The trick to extending the tech’s range, Hubble Network says, lies in the startup’s patented, high-sensitivity signal detection system on a LEO satellite. #network #apple #smartphone #future #iPhone #samsung #aerospace #connectivity #connectivitymatters #communications #newspace #newspaceeconomy #constellations #satellite #space #satelliteoperatos #satcoms #satellitesystems #satelliteoperations #telecommunications #spaceindustry #LowEarthOrbit #geo #megaconstellations #esa #nasa #eu #europe #resilience #oneweb #starlink #spacex #telesat #globalstar #iridium #qualcomm #att #huawei #ASTSpacemoblie #lynk #spacecraft #internetofthings #development #emergencyresponse #5g #6g #5gnetworks #spacedata #oneweb #starlink #iris2 #iridium #directtodevice #autonomousvehicles #d2d #dtd #viasat #verizon #iot #bluetooth #hybridnetworks #MichaelHadjitheodosiou https://lnkd.in/e_iXp788

The end of dead zones ? SpaceX has just announced that they have successfully achieved their first text message exchange between two unmodified phones through their Direct-To-Cell satellites ! It's an incredible engineering feat to connect standard phones to a cell tower that's travelling hundreds of kilometers away at 7.7km/s ... With text service expected to be available in 2024 and voice, data, and Internet of Things (IoT) services in 2025, this is definitely a revolution for wilderness lovers and a game-changer for human safety in mountains, deserts, oceans, etc.... if more phone operators (especially European ones) answer the call for collaboration from SpaceX ! Talk to you soon from the middle of the mountains (or from atop a frozen lake in the middle of Finland) ;-) https://lnkd.in/egbbX5hu #satcom #spacex #directtocell #connectingtheworld
