Congratulations to Dr. Schlegel, Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Academics in the Missouri S&T Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Science department for his newest publication in "Nuclear Power Reactor Designs"! 📚 Dr. Schlegel's publication is chapter 14 on Small Modular Reactors. "Nuclear Power Reactor Designs: From History to Advances analyzes nuclear designs throughout history and explains how each of those has helped to shape and inform the nuclear reactor designs of today and the future. Focused on the structure, systems and relevant components of each reactor design, this book provides the readers with answers to key questions to help them understand the benefits of each design." https://lnkd.in/gJDKtFmB

Inspiring to see how we can take the opportunity to become a solution beyond power generation.
OPG's nuclear reactors continue to be a source of important isotopes for the world. With our partners, we are now working to meet a global shortage of Carbon-14, a medical isotope important to drug development. See how we're innovating to meet the need. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3PQsUm2

Advocate for a globally competitive #AUSTRALIANFUSIONENERGYINDUSTRY with strategic communications expertise.
You lump all your talk as Nuclear (meaning only Fission) and fail to talk about fusion. You are, as the nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising and innovative method of producing sustainable and clean energy. By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what news is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fission fuel shortage is increasingly real, as linked below. https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
CNL’s President & CEO, Joseph McBrearty is looking forward to joining Julie West, P. Eng., Kinectrics, Amy G., AECL, and Eric Johnston, Nuclear Innovation Institute to talk about how research and innovation are opening opportunities for new technologies and applications of nuclear science. Attending #CNA2024? Make sure you add it to your schedule on March 1!

Radiation is always linked first to nuclear power, without thinking all the other places it also occurs. You can divide radiation field into four different fields; industry and research, medical, naturally occuring radioactive materials (NORM) and of course nuclear. Our Managing Director Hanna Tuovinen visited Nordic Nuclear Forum to learn the newest trends in nuclear field! Did you see her there?? #NNF24 #NordicNuclearForum #Networking

The NRC commissioners play a crucial role in nuclear energy regulations. They approve rules and policies that govern the licensing and operation of nuclear reactors. For example, they recently approved a final rule eliminating license terms for research reactors and medical therapy facilities, which facilitates innovation and progress in the nuclear sector. The takeaway is that the political climate to allow more nuclear energy is improving.
The U.S. is swiftly cutting through the red tape surrounding nuclear energy, starting with test, research, and medical reactors. On September 4, NRC commissioners approved a final rule that will eliminate license terms for research reactors and medical therapy facilities, paving the way for innovation, progress, and more nuclear reactors.

Since the Manhattan Project days, ORNL has been a leader in #nuclear research. That legacy continues, including within the #nonproliferation space where researchers are dedicated to ensuring nuclear materials are used safely, securely, and peacefully. Andrew Conant, Ph.D., nuclear nonproliferation researcher, is partnering with experts at other #DOE #NationalLabs to run checks on #nuclearreactor #isotopes. By essentially retracing the footsteps of these isotopes, researchers can help discover the intent for the nuclear material — fuel or, possibly, weapons.
