As we continue to strive for sustainable solutions, it's inspiring to see the rapid expansion of hydrogen infrastructure worldwide. An optimized CCS network CAN reduce Europe's point source emissions by 70% At NEXT: New Energy X Subsurface Francesco Piovesan will share results from an ongoing research project that investigate the feasibility of a cross-Europe CO2 transport network from emitters to storage sites. According to the study, an optimized CCS network that reduces Europe’s point source emissions by 70 % is technically feasible, but with high energy demand and costs. The costs are primarily driven by the capture and transport parts of the network, but potential steps to reduce costs may be taken, for instance by accepting capture of less pure CO2. Don't get me wrong, each event is packed with valuable insights, but we might need to invent a "digital twin" to attend them all. Any takers? #greenenergy 1️⃣ x 1️⃣ – not as simple as it seems though.   An energized discussion today at #MCCFest, a three-day festival held in Esztergom, Hungary, hosting also engaging panels on various public issues.   Our panel has taken a bold step in addressing the various challenges of the #energytransition and how the current #energysystem and #energymix might transform. Up to 57 % of the building volume in the Turin central districts could be completely satisfied by shallow geothermal energy. The massive and rational application of open and closed loop systems and energy geostructures can open new opportunities for developing cities to combat climate change effects and overcome sustainability challenges. This is discussed in our latest paper where we propose a novel geothermal potential assessment procedure useful to urban planners and environmental authorities to assess optimal areas for the installation of new geothermal systems as well as manage actual interferences. This is truly remarkable: Natural hydrogen is entering a new phase. Natural Hydrogen is now recognized as an important topic by the International Energy Agency's Hydrogen Technology Collaboration Program (https://lnkd.in/dJgrmm-H). The IEA H2TCP 97th ExCo Meeting in Vienna validated the creation of a TASK named "Natural Hydrogen". The TASK 49 brings together 31 experts representing 16 countries to act jointly on research and monitoring actions, and on proposals in the fields of research, exploration/production methods, evaluation of economic reserves, public policy, public acculturation, financing, infrastructures and environmental impacts.   https://lnkd.in/eg64hYEc
