🌟 NO FOMO, ONLY FOMA 🌟 An enriching experience as a jury member at the Festival of Media 2024 awards! As a passionate digital native marketeer, it is always an honor to participate in judging discussions that shed light on the ever-evolving landscape of media in post-pandemic neo-hybrid media world The infusion of technology especially in traditional media of TV, OOH, Publishing, Shelves, Audio, SKUs is an incredible leap forward, while phygital media continues to gallop forward From grassroots Rural initiatives to hyper-personalized AI-led campaigns changing lives of geriatric care, the spectrum of innovation showcased at the event was truly inspiring One of the most fascinating aspects was witnessing how the traditional boundaries between cause-marketing and brand-building are becoming increasingly blurred. This symbiotic relationship between societal impact and brand identity is not only commendable but also indicative of a larger shift towards conscious consumerism Moreover, the redefinition of branded content in the wake of the content explosion was a recurring theme throughout our discussions. The proliferation of content across various platforms has necessitated a shift in how brands accelerate both speed and quality of content, versus debating between either! Last but not just, one couldn't overlook the pivotal role of AI-led hyper-personalization in shaping the future of media. The ability to leverage Generative AI vs just data to deliver tailored experiences to consumers was thrilling What truly made this experience invaluable was the opportunity to engage with fellow jurors, each bringing their unique perspectives from diverse backgrounds spanning from grassroots organizations to tech giants In conclusion, my time at the Festival of Media 2024 awards has not only equipped me with deeper insights into the evolving media landscapes but also reaffirmed my belief that coffee with fellow marketeers over great content is the ultimate high in the dynamic world of media and marketing Thank you, Festival of Media Thank you, AI! For writing this long post with a quick prompt basis my hand-scribbled notes from the judging :-) #MarketingInsights #ContinuousLearning #digitalmedia

🌐 The Future of Digital Marketing in Tourism: Data-Driven & Insightful I'm excited to be part of the upcoming eTourism Marketplace, where we’ll dive into the evolving world of digital marketing and data analytics for DMOs. One panel I’m particularly looking forward to focuses on geolocation data, attribution models, and how we’re all preparing for a cookie-less future—led by industry expert Kelby Bosshardt from Datafy. 🎯 What’s on the agenda: Using geolocation data for more than just targeting—think deeper visitor engagement and smarter campaigns. Building strong, first-party data strategies in a world without cookies. Making sense of attribution—connecting the dots between marketing efforts and real-world impact. Adapting to a privacy-first world while still gathering meaningful insights. As the landscape shifts, DMOs that stay ahead of the curve with smart data use will lead the way in shaping the future of tourism marketing. Looking forward to some great discussions and fresh insights. Will you be attending? #DataAnalytics #DigitalMarketing #DMO #Geolocation #Attribution #TourismMarketing #eTourism

Breaking the Cycle: Overcoming Poverty, Homelessness, and Substance Abuse In our community, the challenges of poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse often intertwine, creating a complex web that can feel impossible to escape. But every individual deserves a chance at a better life, and together, we can make a difference. Hand in Hand: It’s crucial to recognize that overcoming these challenges requires more than just individual effort. It takes a supportive community willing to extend a helping hand to those in need. Understanding the Connections: Poverty can lead to homelessness, which in turn can fuel substance abuse as a coping mechanism. Breaking free from this cycle requires addressing the root causes and providing comprehensive support. Providing Stability: Access to stable housing, healthcare, and education is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness. By ensuring these basic needs are met, we can empower individuals to rebuild their lives. Building Support Systems: Recovery from substance abuse requires not only professional treatment but also strong support systems and a sense of belonging. Let’s foster communities where individuals feel supported on their journey to recovery. Creating Change: It’s time to come together as a community to break down stigma, increase access to resources, and advocate for policies that support those facing poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse. Together, we can be the catalyst for change and create a brighter future for all. Help us extend a hand to those in need and build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. #citizensinn #BreakingTheCycle #CommunitySupport #EndStigma

PJ Pereira, you KNOW I agree. ...to an extent. BUT, I think we all have to come to terms with the fact that Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is now three things simultaneously: 1) A global creative awards show. Or, rather THE global creative awards show. 2) A global Media and Marketing conference. 3) A global celebration of and for the advertising, marketing and media community (with the big players all flexing their big budgets to throw big parties). In my opinion, none of these exist to the detriment of the other. I also think ALL OF US could do a better job of engaging in all three aspects. If you're in the Palais to give or accept awards, set some business meetings that broaden your knowledge, expand your relationships, and stretch your understanding of what's possible. If you're at MediaLink Beach to open or close deals, walk the twenty-five yards to the Palais and catch a panel or an awards ceremony. If you're just here for the pickleball at Stagwell Sport Beach, or to see Arcade Fire at Spotify House, how do I get your job? But if your job has you here for awards and meetings, don't be shy about rewarding yourself with some of the fun. Let's not fight what Cannes has become, let's make the most of it. See you all on the Croisette, and in meetings, and in the Palais, and, yes, probably at the bar. p.s. I think it's worth noting that while scheduling conflicts are real, in my 20+ years of attending awards ceremonies in the Palais, I have never once seen it at any less than way over capacity, standing room only.

At Cannes, ceremonies should be sacred. Untouchable. Unconflictable. Listen, I’m coming to terms with the fact that my yearly week to study the craft without the noise of business is gone. But one thing I can’t get over: companies scheduling events — dinners, parties, meetings — conflicting with the ceremonies. That’s such a disrespectful act! We have all day, all night for shenanigans. Let’s keep the awarding of the lions clear so people still going to France to study can learn without any pressure. So people receiving their career-changing metal can be properly cheered. And most of all, so we keep the work still at the pinnacle of what the event means. Though while I write that, a sad feeling descends. I’m not sure the perpetrators, the ones scheduling parties and get-togethers during this ritualistic time will even understand my point. “Of course they can go,” they will say, “we will totally understand!” I don’t care you understand. I don’t give a damn you’re ok if we go. I care about the dare of scheduling anything during the ceremony that should be the reason the event exists. The symbolic act it represents. Maybe if people start to speak up, if enough of us refuse to go to any other events during those time slots, even if they are not attending that specific ceremony… perhaps we can bring back a little bit of etiquette around this Festival of Creativity. Good luck next week to all contenders. Thank you judges for dedicating time to learn on behalf of all of us. Looking forward to seeing some of you next week. And to continue to discuss what’s next in the creative world after that. #canneslions #creativity #advertising
