The Crossings of Dawsonville is a multi-family apartment complex located 1/2-miles from North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawson County, GA. The project consisted of nine structures combining the aesthetics of segmental block retaining walls, vegetated wire form slopes, and rock-faced, galvanized wire form walls. The entrance road to the development is supported on both sides by 40-ft, rock-faced galvanized wire form walls. A 52-ft wall constructed with the lower 1/3 as rock-faced galvanized and the remaining 2/3 as vegetated wire form slope surround the site detention pond. The remaining walls are dispersed across the challenging site with more than 125-ft of grade change.

Hudson Valley Bricks Red "rocks" - or remnants of bricks can still be found scattered along shorelines in the Hudson Valley. My newsletter ("The Brick") was named in tribute to days past of a once flourishing brick making industry in the Hudson Valley and it's impact on construction. Scenic Hudson shared some interesting facts about HV Bricks: What made the region a nexus for brick making? An abundance of clay, deposited at the bottom of glacial lakes at the end of the last Ice Age, about 12,000 years ago. Some of these deposits were up to 100 feet deep. At the industry's height, brickworks were located in more than two dozen riverfront communities. By the end of the 19th century, there were over 130 different operations that employed about 10,000 workers, primarily immigrants. Two prime reasons for the industries success: 1) A construction boom in Manhattan that led to a 20 fold increase in the number of buildings between 1790 and 1910 and 2) new building codes in the mid 19th century that required masonry construction to prevent occurring devastating fires. By the late 19th century, Hudson Valley brickyards were supplying NYC with up to 1 billion bricks per year. The lower quality clay in the valley led local brickyards to specialize in producing molded "common" bricks for inner walls, as opposed to "face" bricks that adorn building exteriors. It's fairly safe to assume that any brick building constructed between 1800-1940 includes some form of sediment from the banks of the Hudson River. The emergence of steel and concrete combined with competition from cheaper European bricks doomed the regions brick making operations. Hutton Company Brick Works in Kingston opened in 1865 and was the longest running brick plant in the Hudson Valley. It stopped operations in 1980, representing the end of an era. Pic taken this past weekend: Charles Rider Park 250 Ulster Landing, Kingston Boat dock, playground, free. Beautiful views of Rhinecliff Bridge. Lots of bricks along the shoreline. #bricks #hudsonvalleyny #exploreny #brickyard #masonry #thisisupstate #upstateny #yesteryear #buildingnyc #constructionindustry #hudsonvalleynest

These Projects Can All Benefit from Using Granite Curbing: State Highways (Department of Transportation Projects) Municipalities for Roadway / Sidewalk Improvements Colleges / Schools / Universities Residential Developments Commercial Developments Functional elements are often the most important factors to consider when selecting curbing. While the visual appeal of granite curbing speaks for itself, this versatile option also offers a wide range of technical benefits to consider when project planning. Granite Curb Stones Add Value and Permanence. Provide Cost Savings: when long-term costs of concrete curbing maintenance and repairs are considered. Granite Curb Stones: Reinforces Historic Character--Adds distinction and visual enhancement to public sidewalks--Has Lifelong Durability--Virtually Maintenance Free--Withstands Extreme Conditions. HOW MUCH YOU CAN EXPECT TO PAY FOR A COMMERCIAL ROOF IN STOCKTON OR ROCKFORD, IL It’s hard to make generalizations about the cost of a commercial roof. So much depends on the size and complexity of the roof and the type of roofing material. As an example, a single-story building with a flat roof could cost around $80,000, while a larger multi-story building with a pitched roof could run over $200,000. As another example, an asphalt shingle commercial roof might cost around $8 a square foot, while a metal or tile roof could run around $15 a square foot. Besides the cost of the roof material itself, various other factors come into play in determining commercial roof costs, such as the size and scope of the roof itself, as well as whether there is an existing roof that needs removal. Let’s take a look at the factors that go into the costs of a commercial roof - https://ow.ly/KBF650QIX3T #commercialroofing #commercialroof #commercialrealestate #stockton #rockford #galena #lanark #appleriver

I took this picture because I think that the skill, the brute force, the technology required to keep the sides of this hole from caving in on itself is truly impressive. But, when I look at it now, I just see it as an illustration of why underground parking spaces are so expensive. 📷 A several storey deep hole being excavated by heavy machinery in downtown Hamilton, with huge steel cross-braces supporting the walls. #Construction #Parking #UndergroundParking #Condos #ResidentialConstruction #HamOnt #RandomMusings

Canterbury Community New Construction Update Here’s a brief overview of the recent construction phases: Foundation: Our team began by preparing the site and laying a strong foundation. This involved excavating and pouring concrete to create a stable base for your home, ensuring durability and resistance to environmental factors. Framing: Following the foundation, we erected the framework using quality timber. This skeleton of your home defines its shape and structure, including walls, floors, and roof support. The framing process is crucial for establishing the layout and ensuring stability. If you have any questions about your new home or need information on other new builds or rehabs in the Atlanta area, please contact us at @haroldmonuhomes. #newconstruction #atlantarealestate #newhomes

Back to brick rip out? Be prepared when buying these old Victorian properties when you start ripping out, you can be forced to go back to the bones of the property! Everything you touch is likely to be rotten Starting again makes a lot of sense… Why? 1. Identifying and Addressing Structural Issues 2. Opportunity for Insulation and Wiring upgrades 3. Customisation and altering floor plans to make better use of the space 4. Long-Term Durability and Maintenance will be lower when replacing everything at this stage. 5. Increased Property Value You can see this flat looks quite different now but watch it start to come together again. First fix electrics today, new windows ordered. Insulation and plasterboard.. it will soon come together and be a lovely home for someone. We have other projects in the pipeline, want to get involved? Get in touch! #passiveinvestment #greatroi #backtobrick #refurbishment #angelinvestors

A large Gold Coast hinterland home being prepped on this site by Shaun and the team of Big T Concreting for New Classic Homes Pty Ltd 🏡 This is going to be stunning… other than the wet areas the full slab is going to be finished as polished concrete ✨👌🏼 The Biax Foundations system is perfect for polished slabs - having closer spaced tapered ribs and channels across the top of each pod the system allows the concrete to “go off” significantly more even than a larger flat topped pod with deep straight narrow ribs, all up resulting in a perfect finish. If you want a quality finish, why risk anything else? INCREDIBLE ROOFING HISTORY (LEAD ROOFING): Lead has been used in roofing for thousands of years, and its history can be traced back to ancient civilizations. Discovery Lead was one of the first metals discovered by humans, and was in use as early as 3000 B.C. Roman era Lead was used in the construction of aqueducts as early as the 2nd century B.C. Norman era Lead was used in Norman-era pipework, guttering, and roofing coverings. Churches Lead flashing became popular in churches, and the practice spread to other extravagant buildings in the Middle Ages. London Lead roofing can be seen on many of London's iconic buildings, including the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace. Lead is a popular roofing material because it's: Durable: Lead can last up to 500 years. Malleable: Lead can be molded into any shape. Resistant to corrosion: Lead is highly resistant to corrosion. Non-combustible: Lead is non-combustible. Recyclable: Lead is 100% recyclable. However, lead is also toxic, and roofers must follow strict rules when handling it. #BrunnoNoBs 👊👊
