This is HUGE news! As much as I believe that the move to professionalization is needed to move the sport forward, the lack of clubs within certain areas/regions is concerning. As someone who is involved in netball in Scotland, I fear this could have huge implications. Not only at an elite level, but particularly at grassroots, through player pathways, and for umpires and coaches. I am excited to see what the new era of netball brings, however I do hope there are plans in the near future to ensure that the Super League is accessible for and representative of the whole of the UK (including Scotland, NI, the South West, etc). #NetballSuperLeague #SportDevelopment

In May of #2022 (before the Lionesses took over the mainstream media for their success at the #Euros), I tipped off my research for my final MBA project around #women’s #sport #sponsorship. One of the most exciting findings of my project was the debate about bundling vs unbundling men’s and women’s programs. ‘One Team, One Program’ was one of the 11 factors that I identified influence rightsholders/clubs in resolving the debate. Arsenal F.C is leading the charge in solidifying the ‘One Club’ philosophy not only for sponsorships but for ticketing programs too. ⚽What has happened? At the weekend the 6 Nations concluded with a nail-biting match between France and England. France came out on top, but the real winners were the Lyon crowd, we were great! The atmosphere in and outside the stadium was fantastic.   This is a similar model to the NFL playing overseas, playing club rugby away from the regular home ground. Saracens will do this at the weekend at the Tottenham Hotspur FC stadium. Harlequins also do this once or twice a season using Twickenham Stadium.   These events produce significant revenue if they can sell out the stadium, but it also gives the fans a new top level experience. I had a conversation not so long ago about Super Rugby doing the same, imagine The Crusaders playing The Waratahs in LONDON! A stadium would sell out easily and the atmosphere would be electric.
