From Florida Politics: ‘FDOE Official Emphasizes that Early Learning is Key to Academic Success’ "Good news is that (in) states with local pre-kindergarten readiness programs, is kiddos that enter those programs are more likely to be successful and enter kindergarten ready for school. If high school graduation matters, leaving third grade with the grade on reading skills necessary to be successful in fourth grade and beyond matters, kindergarten readiness must matter." Here’s why we start teaching self-responsibility at a young age in our kindergarten class 👇👇👇 We crafted our classroom agreements with our young learners. We decided together. We committed together. And we don’t worry about whether this makes us the most orderly classroom. Why? Because fostering self-responsibility isn’t about keeping a tidy room. It’s about: - Empowering kids. - Encouraging respect for others and the environment. - Instilling habits that extend beyond the classroom walls. And guess what? It shapes them more than you think. You believe teaching responsibility early only prepares them for school? Think bigger. Congratulations. You’re nurturing future citizens. That’s the power of early education. Don’t wait for them to grow up to become responsible. Start now Start at home #parenttips #parentingathome #earlyeducation #kindergarten #mindfulteaching #lifeskills

Helping families, travelers, teachers, businesses, and employees connect with communities across language barriers.
I’ve seen a lot of negative press about #homeschooling lately, mostly centered on how “unaccountable” we are. There’s a strong vibe of frustration over officials not knowing whether we’re actually educating our children. On the face of it, I will say that if you’re uncomfortable not knowing what we are teaching our children, we actually don’t care, and your discomfort means nothing. The state has no legal right to scrutinize what education happens in our homes, unless you live in a state like Rhode Island that makes it ridiculously difficult to #homeschool. As a mother who lives in a school district that absolutely sucks by anyone’s standards - you remember that national news story about the first day of school where buses got the last kids home at 9:40 soaked in urine and had to cancel the next several days of school? - it infuriates me when people who will defend JCPS at any cost will groan and lament over not knowing what the county’s thousands of homeschoolers are doing. They seriously act like we are trying to produce uneducated bigots who will fail at life. You can understand my frustration over the right obsessing over the content of a few school library books and some flags, and the left obsessing over SEL and breathing exercises and preventing school choice, when at the school down the road, half of the fifth graders are illiterate. I will continue to answer invasive questions in this way- until there is abuse, the state has no standing. Punto y final. Period, the end. But I’m always willing to shine a light on honest inquiry about homeschooling. I was homeschooled from 5th through 12th grades, mostly without the benefit of the internet. All three of our children have been homeschooled at some point, and the two oldest are currently. Our oldest daughter has been homeschooled for all but fifth grade, which she spent in JCPS’s dual immersion school. This fall, as a 14-year-old high school sophomore, she took the PSAT. Here is how her education compares to your juniors, if it helps ease your concern a bit.

Investing in early education is an incredibly impactful decision. It sets the foundation for a child's future success by nurturing their development, cognitive skills, and social abilities at a crucial stage in their lives. The long-term benefits extend to society as a whole, promoting higher achievement, reduced inequality, and better outcomes for individuals. It's a wise investment in the future.
And yes, that's very little. Early childhood education is one of the most cost-effective ways to advance a country's development and set children on the path to a life full of learning: http://g.pe/Lh4750PCpbP #TransformingEducation #FundEducation

Places and spaces to thrive. Children ‘don’t’ need formal academic classrooms, environments that look and feel like a school. All children need spaces and places to thrive instead of just survive. ‘Extension of home instead of a watered down version of school.’ “If we thought more about childhoods and less about needs, some of our programs would look less like schools and more like homes and children’s museums, or like fields and parks. We might develop varied places with a genuine sense of beauty; places where adults and children delight at times in simply being together” - Jim Green-man #authenticresources #educators #ThirdTeacher #earlychildhoodeducator #enablingenvironment #Reggio #earlylearning #thirdteacher #reggioemilia #reggioinspired #aweandwonder #aesthetics #thrivenotjustsurvive #hygge #hyggeintheearlyyears #earlychildhoodeducator #earlyyears
