The Inverted Pyramid: Listening Through the District, One School at a Time! Forest Acres Elementary (Easley, SC) Enjoyed meeting with teachers and the FAES Admin Team! Our meeting covered four topics: 1. Make It Better - recommendations for improving the district 2. The Strategic Plan - how to achieve our five goals 3. Innovation - what innovative ideas do you have for the school and district 4. The Framework – updates regarding progress on the five year plan for the foundational practices with MTSS/RTI at Work This concludes the listening sessions at all (14) elementary schools in the district. Love the culture in each school and appreciate the hard work from each employee. A few quick notes - (1) the one word used by our parents, students and community to describe our district from the recent Cognia visit was "SAFE". Maybe that is why we expect 50,000 new people in our county in the next five years. (2) Yesterday was my first visit to a middle school with the inverted pyramid ... I asked the teachers how did you acquire the trust from so many parents to create a school where students feel safe and their reply: the students came to us with a sense of belonging from the elementary schools! What a compliment! (3) We will always tweak our approach each year but our core is solid so we will not be changing too much next year. Listening allows us to grow but to take everyone up the mountain together!! The first two laps (Early Childhood and Elementary) are finished for the Inverted Pyramid. Now we move to the middle school for the third lap! Team73! #EngagingToday #EmpoweringTomorrow

Here’s why we start teaching self-responsibility at a young age in our kindergarten class 👇👇👇 We crafted our classroom agreements with our young learners. We decided together. We committed together. And we don’t worry about whether this makes us the most orderly classroom. Why? Because fostering self-responsibility isn’t about keeping a tidy room. It’s about: - Empowering kids. - Encouraging respect for others and the environment. - Instilling habits that extend beyond the classroom walls. And guess what? It shapes them more than you think. You believe teaching responsibility early only prepares them for school? Think bigger. Congratulations. You’re nurturing future citizens. That’s the power of early education. Don’t wait for them to grow up to become responsible. Start now Start at home #parenttips #parentingathome #earlyeducation #kindergarten #mindfulteaching #lifeskills

Open concept classrooms do not work in the United States. Until we adapt into the educational structure these classrooms were designed to cultivate, we are putting are children at a disadvantage. #publiceducation #classrooms #teachers #schools #education https://lnkd.in/e5P9-JKP

Founder of Highgrove Education, trustee at Svitlo Education, host of Online Schools LinkedIn group. Reach out to me about all things online schooling and EdTech.
Not every child likes school. 🙄 Sometimes it’s frustration about the pace of the lessons, or the cover teacher who has never taught the subject before, or the teacher who seems not to notice you’ve been in their class for half a year. 🙄 Sometimes it’s the fear of sitting alone in the canteen, or the chaos and noise of the school playground, or the two boys sitting behind you laughing and kicking your chair, or the pressure to vape in the toilets. 🙄 Sometimes it’s the uncomfortable blazer and tie, or not being allowed to use the loo when you need to go, or the behaviour policy that gives you a detention because you forgot your ruler. Did you notice that none of these things are related to academic ability? As a principal of an #onlineschool, I’ve met plenty of children who hate school, but love learning. Highgrove Education offers a warm and supportive online education for pupils who love to learn but don’t enjoy school. We provide the same outstanding academic education and comprehensive extra-curricular programme as leading independent schools, but our pupils study from the comfort of their own homes, with dogs, cats and gerbils welcome to co-enrol. 😉 They end up with friends across the world, cracking grades and an education that fits their needs. Not all our pupils at Highgrove Online School dislike traditional schools, but for those that do, our provision can be life-changing. Know any pupils who don't enjoy school but love learning? Perhaps it's time for them to rethink their education. 🤔

In the case of learning to read, it really does take a village. That's surely why committed teachers at a RI elementary school want all families in their school to use the Abound family partnership program. With budgets tight, Abound's inexpensive model can help schools looking to give families realistic-and-yet-important ways to impact a child's reading development. As a Public Benefit Corp on a mission to improve reading rates, we keep costs low for schools. $500 gives a year's access to Abound's daily content to EVERY family & other adult in a school community, age 3 - grade 3 (a 1-hr training on the science of reading & how Abound supports families is just $500 more, plus travel). Please pass along to any teachers, principals or policy makers with a sense of urgency around children's reading outcomes. Schools can do better quicker by including families now.

The best or most popular school in town may not be the best school for your child. An attractive school uniform or school bus might not be the best for your child. The most reputable or talked about school in town may still not be the best for your child. Every child is unique with unique needs. Lookout for a school that can tailor teaching based on your child’s educational needs. Before you look for a school for your child, ask yourself the kind of education you want for your child and your search should be in response to it. Checkout the following when looking for a school to enroll your child or children: _Safety and security of the learners. _Class size. _The quality of teachers. _Costs _Location. _Parental involvement. _Academic performance. _Availability and nature of school facilities like toilets and water. _School culture (the moral upbringing in the school) You can visit the school to get the information. You can do research, ask parents whose kids are in the school. It is worth noting that, a child’s success doesn’t rest solely on the soldiers of the school and teachers, parents have a huge part to play. "Educate the children and it won’t be necessary to punish the man" speaks to the power of early education in shaping a better future. When we invest in educating children, we are not just teaching them facts or skills, we’re molding responsible, empathetic, and mindful individuals. Education creates a foundation where children learn values, respect, and a sense of responsibility toward themselves and society. By instilling these qualities early, we prevent many of the challenges that arise later in life. A well-educated child grows up with the knowledge and understanding to make better choices, treat others with respect, and contribute positively to society. This reduces the need for correction, punishment, or intervention down the line. Simply put, when children are given the tools to think critically and act kindly, they grow into adults who help build stronger, more peaceful communities. This quote is a reminder that education is not just about academics but about shaping character and fostering a more harmonious society. If we focus on teaching and guiding our children today, we’re creating a world where fewer problems need fixing tomorrow. #EducateToElevate #EarlyEducationMatters #ShapeTheFuture #BetterSociety #InvestInChildren #parking #parkqwik #monthlyparking #parkingsolution #parkingsuperstar #parkingmadeeasy
