The humanitarian sector is facing challenging times – it’s more important than ever to capitalise on the wealth of learning and experience that already exists within the system. To do this we need to consider: ▶ Local/national actors have a wealth of knowledge and experience that gets largely overlooked by the broader system ▶ Institutional ego and the competitive funding environment inhibits the willingness of agencies to share learning collectively ▶ Organisations need to develop cultures that enable them to make use of the learning that exists – why is it that evaluation findings don’t get used and what needs to change? @ALNAP's upcoming Learning Curve event will strive to highlight how things would have looked if these key factors had been addressed – alternate futures in a world where learning comes first. About 6months ago, I was appointed as the Country Project Coordinator(lead)-Ghana of the African Youth Mentorship Project with the global lead @Esther Adjudeonu and the President Inés Yábar, United Nations Foundation after joining the Engine Room 2023. This was strenuous and burdensome balancing it with my final year education, yet I sailed through. Overview: The Project started without funds, unfortunately we were not able to secure funds but rather secured invaluable resources through our efforts. This opportunity equipped me with valuable insights into challenges and opportunities that my #country Ghana faces today. Hosting over 50 individuals in Ghana, and few from other subsaharan countries. With the rate of unemployment, My #team and I had to educate, and create avenues as to how we can tackle the problem after various RCAs. Creating a virtual seminar, #mentorship opportunities, securing sponsorships and partnerships, #teamwork and many others. Another milestone: Efforts from my team and I, gave me the opportunity to be a virtual speaker on the same project seminar at South Africa 🇿🇦 led by Thabiso Masigo. My topic was titled "the innovator, the asset and the orator" Why it Matters: As usual, I played a pivotal role in addressing a pressing issue at the national level in my own way with innovation and the assistance of my country team and the Global Project Lead, and this Certificate has deepened my passion for such My next steps: Whether it's participation in #projects, businesses, #collaboration on initiatives, I'm ready to contribute. Back in school, classroom setups worked because the teacher was the source of all things worth knowing (at least that was the thought). But with adult learning, the room is already filled with an abundance of knowledge, skill and experience on the topic of discussion. It's important that all the participants get a chance to share their input and also to learn from others. That means we, as facilitators/trainers, need to set up the room for exactly that kind of engagement. 1. You will need to see the room a day before the workshop or come in extra early to make any changes. 2. I hve been appointed as a mentor for Cambodian companies, particularly supporting the development of healthcare companies. The Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) has established a company acceleration program and is working to develop Cambodian companies in cooperation with JICA, Deloitte, AEON Mall, and others. In Cambodia, medical care is mostly provided on a free-for-all basis, so medical care is provided as a business. In other words, people's quality of life (QOL) is greatly affected by the disparity between rich and poor. I aim to contribute to this disparity with the wellness economy model that I am currently studying and developing a system in which people's biological information (health and medical information) can be used as social security. I am delusional that if we can implement it in society, I am wondering if we would be able to realize medical care that does not depend on the disparity between rich and poor ^^ https://lnkd.in/da5_znBC

Excited to share that I recently participated in the "Empowering Africa: Building Media Literacy Capacity" Virtual Training Series (May 2024), organized by DCN Global This series was an incredible opportunity to deepen my understanding of media literacy and its crucial role in empowering communities across Africa. Throughout the sessions, I had the pleasure of engaging with experts and like-minded #professionals who are passionate about fostering a more informed and critical media environment. Key learnings: Critical Thinking Skills: In an era where misinformation can spread rapidly, the training emphasized the importance of developing #criticalthinking skills to analyze and evaluate #mediacontent effectively. Digital Citizenship: Understanding the responsibilities and ethical considerations of being a digital citizen was a major highlight. It's about promoting positive and responsible online behavior. Fact-Checking Techniques: I learned various fact-checking tools and techniques to verify information before sharing it, which is vital in combating fake news. Media Production Insights: The sessions provided practical insights into #mediaproduction, helping us understand how media is created and the impact it can have on public perception. Community Engagement: Building #medialiteracy isn't just about individual skills—it's about engaging communities to create a culture of critical consumption and production of media.
