At Eastlight, we believe in creating opportunities that make a difference 👇 That’s why we’re proud to introduce Wendy, our first participant in the new Dale Butcher Resident Work Experience Programme. As a resident for more than 30 years, Wendy is gaining hands-on insight into the housing sector, supported by experienced professionals. This includes Development Manager, Debbie Mitchell, and Asset Manager, Charlie Edgar MCIOB, and the programme’s namesake, Dale Butcher, our former Vice-chair of Board. The programme also provides Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) training, offering valuable skills and an industry-recognised qualification. An excited Wendy said: "I have never done anything like this before, but I think it’s a brilliant opportunity. “All being well, it will be great to gain a new professional qualification, have a wealth of practical knowledge, and to find out if I might like to pursue a new career in housing and construction. “I think it’s such a good thing that Eastlight want to involve residents in as many directions as possible, with regards to how they operate and their aspirations in housing people.” #community #workexperience #development #sustainability

One thing I know to be true is the importance of cultivating a team that amplifies your vision. Even more fulfilling is when that shared vision turns into a milestone by solving a problem and leaving a positive impact. I was recently reminded of this when I received a heartwarming note from one of my clients in response to @Heartwood - an affordable housing project my team worked tirelessly on. In today’s challenging economy, creating a reasonably-priced housing project is a huge leap of faith with countless obstacles. But my team never gave up on our shared vision. Despite market struggles, the Heartwood team and @SixthRiver pushed forward, coming together to innovate solutions and turn obstacles into a work of art. For me, the Heartwood project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when passionate teams refuse to settle for 'good enough' and rally behind our collective ‘why’. It’s a reminder that when we commit to building something truly meaningful, we’re not just creating homes; we’re shaping futures and strengthening communities. This is the impact we strive for every day—and it's why I love my job. #AffordableHousing #Collaboration #SixthRiver

The latest mixed-income project in Braintree, MA, The Abby, is underway, at a whopping $47 million! As professionals in [#BostonRealEstate], it's vital that we understand the benefits of developing such projects near transit hubs, like the MBTA Commuter Rail Station. But here's a thought - are we doing enough? Over 40% of the apartments in The Abby are designed to be affordable for households making at or below 80% of the Area Median Income. Is your latest development project addressing this level of inclusivity and accessibility? It's time we revisited our [#RealEstate] strategies to ensure we aren't just building houses, but building homes that cater to everyone. Consider reaching out to [#BostonRealtor] and expert Joe Turco to gain more insights on successful and equitable development projects. Let's bring about a change - one that not only amplifies our success but also uplifts the city we call home. Reflect on it, and when you're ready, join the conversation with [#TurcoGroup #Boston #MovemetoBoston]. Let's make Boston's real estate scene a model for others. #BostonCondo #SocialNetworking #Sales

#HousingCommunitySummit: 'Resident Engagement with Building Safety', at the Asset Management and Dacarbonisation Theatre, sponsored by Plentific. With: Sinan F., Ola Shanu, Liz Oliver, John Murray, Neil Yeomans CEnvH MCIEH, and chaired by Vicky Saunders. The session seeks to unpack what an effective resident engagement strategy involves. John starts with an overview of the Building Safety Act, and some of the problems that have been identified in reports, such as the recent Grenfell Inquiry report: - The BSA is a large and complex piece of legislation. - Section 91 lays out the engagement requirement. - A complaint system must also be established. - There are legal consequences established to enforce compliance with the requirements of the act. It has teeth. Sinan shared learning from research programmes on resident engagement. There isn't a one size fits all when it comes to engaging with residents on Building Safety, he says. Understanding residents is the key to developing an engagement strategy. Take a step back and assess what you already know, and then see what gaps exist in your knowledge He asks the audience to consider the way they survey tenants, for instance asking about disability. As an example, he says infirm elderly mat not regard themselves as disabled. Ask things like, can you hear the alarms, he suggests, as an example. Liz, from Hyde Housing, explains what her organisation has been doing to address the issues. Hyde developed a neighbourhood model, based on findings of a pilot, and launched it in January. Developed a customer platform that it says enabled tenants to drive how they receive information. Neil talked about some of the tactical things Orbit has learned from some of its bigger projects. Examples he gives: electronic noticeboards. Also employed dedicated resident Engagement officer. "Boots on the ground are absolutely critical," he said. There us more they can, he says; deep systemic things. It didn't feel co-designed, so they are looking to work on this. He talks of the soft landing concept. You engage with the customer even before you have started the project. #ukhousing #socialhousing #residentengagement #buildingsafety The Hyde Group Thurrock Council Orbit Group BTP_Architects

What’s the secret to a thriving business? For me, it’s simple: my team. From day one at Archway Facilities, I’ve prioritized fostering a culture built on respect, collaboration, and trust. Our team members aren’t just employees - they’re the heartbeat of the business. By investing in their well-being and happiness, we’ve created a work environment that motivates everyone to deliver exceptional results. Watching our team take pride in their work and seeing their commitment to commercial cleaning for offices in Devon, Somerset, and Cornwall has been one of my greatest joys. If you’re a business owner, remember this: a supportive, engaged team will always be your biggest asset. Take care of them, and they’ll take care of your clients. #TeamCulture #EmployeeEngagement #CommercialCleaning #SouthWestBusiness #OfficeCleaning
