We currently have two opportunities to join Wildlife Wise in East Suffolk Council’s Specialist Services Team as a Wildlife and Visitors Ranger. Wildlife Wise is a new brand and team on the Suffolk Coast. They work with residents and visitors to prevent disturbance and damage to internationally important wildlife and habitats. Wildlife Wise is hosted by East Suffolk Council, also working on behalf of Ipswich Borough Council, Babergh District Council and Mid Suffolk District Council. In this new and exciting role, you will work to protect Suffolk’s internationally important coastal, estuarine and heathland wildlife sites (European sites) from harm that could occur because of increased recreational use of the sites. The successful applicants will provide a Ranger presence at key wildlife sites and undertake in person engagement with communities, recreational users and landowners. They will facilitate projects to deliver the Suffolk Coast Recreational Disturbance Avoidance and Mitigation Strategy, known publicly as Wildlife Wise. This will include engaging with local people and visitors to promote responsible use of the European sites and undertaking practical tasks that will prevent disturbance to wildlife and habitats.
