So this is what happened. I’m just chilling at my favorite restaurant in Shanghai. (Same one as Blinken’s btw, but no biggie). When Mikko and Jinni Jinghui Lü🔜ChinaJoy come to my table to give me this keychain as a congratulation for my lifetime achievements in the Hillclimb Racing 2 (CANYONEER 17). To think that Fingersoft flew 2 of their best people all the way from Helsinki (during their July holidays too) just to give me a gift… Say what’s you will, but I think it’s pretty cool. I wasn’t even mad about them interrupting my dinner. Talk about serving your whales! Now, Mikko Kirmanen, say it aint so! Also, if happen to go to ChinaJoy next year you need: 1. To get your Alipay/Didi/translator locked and loaded. 2. Wechat account. 3. To use the bicycle there at least once. (unbutton your shirt like Matej 🦩 Lancaric by Zach Jiang 蒋文超) 4. To bring a LOT of shirts, you will be soaked to the skin. 5. To stay at Kerry Pudong. Period. 6. To learn how to properly exchange the business cards. (2 hands and all) 7. To learn how to drink - you will be toasting before each sip (take big sips too, else your shoulders will be sore) 8. NOT to do back-to-backs and leave some space if your meetings happen to be in different locations or if they turn out to be really interesting (30 mins won't do). 9. To get inspired about green policy steps China is taking. 10. Have fun. 11. Contact me. 12. Always say yes to Baijiu ! (by Shang Jie Jian) 13. Bring enough swags/gifts for friends and superfans of your game (by Jinni Jinghui Lü) Special thanks to Ekaterina Baturina 🔜 ChinaJoy, Pavel Melman, Daria Pogrebniak 🔜 ChinaJoy Shanghai, Mikael Leinonen, Jaka Bernardic, Julia Kraskovskaia 🔜 WN Shanghai and ChinaJoy, Kate Anufrieva 🔜 ChinaJoy, Alexander Sorbac and a lot of others for making ChinaJoy really special!

O'zapft is! Last Saturday the Oktoberfest kicked off in Munich! 🍻🚛 The largest folk festival in the world has been held in Munich every year since 1810. The mega event attracts around 6 million visitors from all over the world every year. On the opening weekend alone, 1 million guests attended the Wiesn this year - an impressive number that brings with it enormous logistical challenges! Here are some impressive figures that illustrate the logistical effort involved: - 7 million litres of beer are served during the Oktoberfest. That's tonnes of drinks that have to be delivered on time. - 14 large festival tents and 21 smaller tents provide space for around 120,000 guests at the same time - the tent materials and equipment have to be delivered weeks in advance. - More than 80 rides and fairground attractions require precise transport and assembly, which begins two months before the festival. Whether national or international transport, on-time deliveries are the key to success - not just at the Oktoberfest, but in every supply chain. We wish everyone a happy and safe Oktoberfest! 🎉🍺 #IFBGermany #IFB #Oktoberfest2024 #Wiesn2024 #LogisticSolutions #OktoberfestLogistics #BridgingSupplyChainComplexity

I recently had the opportunity to speak about a work event live on MONEY FM 89.3. Being that it was my first time, I had prepared the salient points of my delivery and was confident in my ability to convey them. What I wasn’t ready for was the conversational nature of this interview. See, a conversation (especially amongst four people from different industries) is different to delivering a speech. Within this short ten-minute engagement, I found myself mentally scrambling to contextualise the points I wanted to land within the backdrop of the programme. How would I answer the host's question in a way that ensured a (1) seamless flow within the four parties whilst (2) landing the key points I needed to as a representative of my organisation? Often-times when it comes to a conversation, we’re not so much listening as we are waiting our turn to speak. This happens many times to even the most seasoned of business leaders - we’re so used to delivering an address we forget how to create an engagement. This is understandable. As leaders we are often expected to chart direction, critique output and provide approval. All of this is one-way communication. Often instructional and at times, transactional. That’s not how a conversation works. A conversation is a delicate dance between people who have decided to be in the same room but haven’t agreed on a choreography. It’s not a marionette moving its limbs at the behest of whoever holds the strings. Now, I often joke that my husband is too quick to provide a solution when all I want is a listening ear. I’m by no means a believer in gender-stereotyping but a quick poll of the ladies might well support this hunch. We want to be danced with, not told where to place our feet! So, here’s a not-so-pro-tip for navigating your next interview or panel discussion. Have your main agenda written in point, on a post-it, in a way that you can check off. Assign 30% of your mental resources to managing this. The other 70% goes towards what I call “active listening” - getting under the skin of what your fellow panelists are saying and making a conscious effort to address their queries and views in a way that seamlessly delivers those agenda points you’ve listed out. It sounds logical in theory but is actually quite difficult in execution because the outcome of such an engagement rest entirely on this unspoken common understanding, the organic choreography that distinguishes interaction from instruction. When was the last time you had a conversation? 🙋♀️ Glenn van Zutphen (Founder, CEO) Neil Humphreys david chew Samsung Electronics Singapore National Heritage Board

🌟 Back from China! I am back from ChinaJoy and OMG, it was a great trip and very insightful! 🎮✨ I will try my best to share some pictures and videos in the next posts, but for now, a quick summary of this huge event: 🌍 International Reach: According to the Shanghai government, this year had a staggering 367,000 fans over four action-packed days, welcoming 8,200 overseas visitors from 31 countries and regions – making ChinaJoy the biggest in the world (Gamescom last year had 320k). 🏢 Massive Scale: The event hosted 743 exhibitors, with big brands and sponsors, taking up all 17 exhibition halls of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) – a capacity of 200,000 square meters indoor and 100,000 square meters outdoor exhibition area. 🔄 Comprehensive Segments: It had B2C (fans and players) and B2B sections, alongside CDEC (China Digital Entertainment Congress) and CGDC (China Game Developers Conference) in the adjacent Shanghai Kerry Hotel complex. 📊 Well Organized: Exhibitors were grouped into categories, showcasing mobile hardware, mobile OS, community-related apps, peripherals, payment solutions, and of course, many developers, publishers, media channels, etc. All are part of this huge gaming ecosystem. In short, it was a great experience, and I hope to go back more often. We even have plans to expand and take more people next time. (Please let us know if you are interested in this.) This time, besides Fernando Fauzi Hamuche, we had the pleasure of taking Bruno A. with us to try and close some deals on-site (and we are on the way!) Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will try my best to answer them! Oktoberfest is finally here. 🍺 Did you know that the first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig, who would later become King Ludwig I, married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen? The festivities that took place for the royal wedding were so well-received that the horse races were repeated in the following years, giving rise to the annual tradition that was initially named Theresienwiese after the grounds on which it took place. Learn more about Oktoberfest, including its significance in modern times, and how you can capture the spirit of Oktoberfest from the comfort of your own home, with our in-depth blog.

Do we celebrate festivals just for the fun and festivities? 🎉💼 In my opinion, festivals mean so much more: 🔸 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 & 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: They’re about staying connected to our roots. Festivals remind us of our heritage and bring families and communities together. It’s like celebrating shared traditions that make us feel united! 👨👩👧👦 🔸 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 & 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲: But as the director of e-Water Mission India Pvt. Ltd., I feel there’s also a significant side to festivals when it comes to business. They create opportunities for local businesses, boost sales, and spark innovation. So, festivals help our economy grow, too! 📈💼 In short, 𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔, making them a win for everyone. ✨ How do festivals make a difference in your life? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! 🌸👇 #Culture #Tradition #Festivals #Entrepreneurship #LocalEconomy #BusinessGrowth #eWMI
