Employee engagement: Employee engagement is a crucial factor in improving employee performance and ultimately corporate performance. The following elements are of great importance for engagement: 1. CLARITY: People need to know what is expected of them at work. Are employees clear about goals? 2. SUPPORT: Do employees have the support (right tools, training, etc.) they need to achieve their objectives? 3. FIT: Do employees’ actual jobs match their skill sets? Do they use their strongest skills as a requirement of job performance? 4. FEEDBACK: Do employees get timely and useful feedback from their leaders? Feedback is neither about praise nor criticism; it is about saying something that an employee finds helpful in performing his tasks. 5. DEVELOPMENT: Are potential employees given opportunities to develop and progress on their career ladders? Leaders are responsible for creating such opportunities.
